Movies are a powerful notalgia machine. I remember vividly seeing the movie Pump Up the Volume when I was a teenager.  I connected instantly with the music, teen angst, and existential ruminations of an 80’s kid. From Pixies to Leonard Cohen, the soundtrack was on constant repeat in my cassette player. This set starts with that nostalgic memory and then thrusts us into the present. Lushpod #77 features tracks from Mark Knight, Fulltone, Kink, Pixies, Homeboy Sandman, and Freedom Fry.

For over 10 years now, The Rhino has had the honor of bringing the beats to one of the most iconic moments of the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey 178-mile, 24-hour relay race.

As the relay winds its way through the mountains and valleys of Northern Nevada, exchange point 30–31 lands right in the heart of Virginia City, behind the legendary Bucket of Blood Saloon. Just as the sun crests the horizon, the runners descend into this surreal moment — part ghost town, part dance floor — greeted by a live sunrise set crafted to elevate tired legs and recharge spirits.

This mix was recorded live from the parking lot stage, with Bloody Marys in hand, high-fives in the air, and that unmistakable Nevada gold glow rising over the hills.

Much love to the Race178 crew, all the incredible relay teams, and every runner who danced (or limped) through this magical checkpoint.
