Saturday sunrise 5:30-7am at the Grove stage
Shambhala Music Festival 2022

Such a special honour to play this cherished and delicate time slot after the dons @kahn and @sicariasound. This was the first time I hadn't made a concrete plan for a proper gig, just felt into the energy of that morning and this is what it summoned. 
Sub focused and melodic...a dash of melancholy and nostalgia. 

So much love out to everyone who stayed up for the late shift, or woke up for the early one. Was a joy to see you out there resonating with some cuts that I really love.

Can feel like you're drowning in emotions. Under the weight of the silence of all the things that aren't said. In this toxic industry. In this hateful world. In injustices and nightmares. When it all feels too heavy, remember to surrender and let go. Keep your head up; float. Relax into something that brings you joy. Remember the sun will rise again. Remember the resilience of the human spirit. The power of connection and love. 

This mix is an amalgamation of my sets from two recent events. My love of the dark and the light.

A relative newcomer to Djing, Lil Cis has quickly proven her versatile taste and skills mixing between untz untz and wub wub realms of house and dubstep. Although her presence behind the decks is relatively new, her presence in the music scene is not. Lil Cis co founded Good Night Out Vancouver and has an immense passion for improving safety and promoting consent culture in the nightlife scene.

She’s been dedicated to creating safer nights out for all but it's now her turn to get a little silly and start the party. Inspired by those 2am dancefloor moments she hopes her sound brings people together.

She is also a co-founder at @audiosocialvancouver, which aims to cultivate culture and create a platform for an inclusive community to connect through sound. Her love of music and event planning is the driving force behind why she picked up djing.

We’re so excited to return to the mix series with a super special one! A new favorite of the crew and a relatively fresh face on the west coast scene, Sundog has been putting in the work. A multi instrumentalist, producer and DJ. Also bares mentioning he’s an all around awesomely humble human as well! It’s no doubt he’s been making waves since his move to the BC coast.

About Okiro
Growing up immersed in BC’s music festival scene from a young age Okiro quickly found his love for underground bass music. In 2014 he began Djing under the alias “feeals” and has continued evolving his sound and original production.

Largely influenced and inspired from the sounds of UK’s sub-heavy dubstep, grime, rap and r&b, Okiro's sets range bpm and vibes while predominantly staying within the deeper sounds of 140 bass music. With an ear for quality sounds and known by fans for curating something special that lasts far beyond the dancefloor. 

Playing sets at festivals like Shambhala, Luminosity, Burning Man and Oregon Eclipse, to countless shows and events locally and internationally Okiro has made a name for himself within the electronic music scene.
