Jahdan Blakkamoore teams up with Kabaka Pyramid on this roots reggae banger. For the Children is a positive reggae anthem encouraging the ghetto youths to rise up and take a stand while charging them with the responsibility for self-reliance and awareness. Shot on location in California last Summer while both artists were performing at The NW World Reggae festival and Reggae on the River. 

The track produced by Zion I Kings (Pressure, Midnite, Snoop Lion) features reggae great Style Scott (Dub Syndicate, Roots Radics, Isreal Vibration) on drums and infuses elements of dubstep and hip-hop, making it fresh and current while remaining undeniably roots reggae. The riddim was tracked at legendary Jamaican Studio of Bob Marley fame, Tuff Gong Recording, in Kingston, JA.

Lustre Kings Productions is excited to announce the "Junction Riddim”, produced by the Zion I Kings. This unique riddim boasts a wide-variety of diverse artists from current to veteran talent, while geographically employing Jamaica, US Virgin Islands, Europe and the USA. The composition is exclusive with the use of live instrumentation interspersed with elements of digital programing, dubstep basslines and hip hop production. Performed live in Jamaica at Tuff Gong Recording studio by the Zion I Kings utilizing the drumming from legendary Roots Radics member, Lincoln “Style” Scott. Zion I Kings is a production trio that has been particularly prolific over the last few years, formed from three notable reggae label heads and audio engineers; Zion High Productions, David Goldfine (bass), I Grade Records, Laurent “Tippy” Alfred (keyboards) and Lustre Kings Productions, Andrew “Moon” Bain (guitar).

The first single on the riddim, "For the Children” a combination with LK feature artist, Jahdan Blakkamoore, teamed with rising star, Kabaka Pyramid, was released last spring to great response worldwide. Some intriguing additions to the riddim are present on the full release; the legendary “Dancehall Don-Dada”, Johnny Osbourne among them! It is rare to see Johnny appear on a new release or any riddim compilation and he delivers his classic reggae styling on “We Steppin’”. Another notable combination is crafted by the brilliant Angela Hunte (Jay-Z, Major Lazer) and Holland’s talented Ziggi Recado on “Crazy is as Crazy Does”. Par for the course from Lustre Kings, the mighty Lutan Fyah comes in strong with his Rastafarian anthem “Up in the Hills” urging his community to depart the ways of Babylon and live a more natural existence. Two other names that bring a fresh energy to the riddim are up and comers, Hempress Sativa on “Still Surviving” and Bobby Hustle on “Chatty Mouth”, both making great use of the track. Other noteworthy names that appear are Pressure Busspipe, Midnite. Lloyd Brown and the ever-articulate Mr. Perfect Giddimani.

For almost two decades, Lustre Kings Productions has become synonymous with modern roots reggae music and fostering burgeoning talent. This independent label has carved a name out for itself grounded in conscious dancehall and reggae music. Brooklyn's 5-Star General, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Grammy-nominated songwriter and international reggae artist is kicking off the summer 2017 season with an ode to his hometown of Georgetown, Guyana on “Mash Down Georgetown”.

Jahdan Blakkamoore was born in Georgetown, Guyana before coming to the states as a child. Jahdan has always had a deep affinity for the land of his birth. About a year ago, Jahdan came across a YouTube video highlighting the corruption and environmental issues surrounding construction of a major hotel chain in Georgetown. That night, as he dug deeper and researched more, his heart was broken and his mind was opened and inspired to speak out on the issue, birthing this hard-hitting anthem.

This Zion I Kings produced track has a modern rockers feel reminiscent of Black Uhuru and UK reggae in the vein of Aswad. Laced with a driving bass line, soulful guitar licks and futuristic synths, this ZIK riddim is sure to mash up any modern roots dance. 

Highlighted on this release is the modern roots master, I Grade Dub. Laurent “Tippy” Alfred, a.k.a., I Grade Dub, delivers a high quality dub mix of the song in classic Jamaican dub style, giving disc jockey’s world over a chance to trance out on the riddim with select vocal drops and dub effects. As well, Manchester UK Drum & Bass specialist, Rolaz, closes out the release speeding things up on an excellent UK Drum & Bass remix of the song, just in time for summer grime parties.

LK chief chanter Jahdan Blakkamoore, teams up with living reggae legend Akae Beka on this important call to rally and global awareness. Earth Cry pays homage to the struggles and survivors of many recent natural disasters throughout the Caribbean and beyond. This Zion I Kings produced track is a haunting banger, unique and solid. The composition originally tracked with a live baby grand piano, Hammond Organ, live drums, bass and guitars all through a vintage Neve console at Brooklyn, NY’s own Virtue and Vice studio in Fort Greene.

Akae Beka is the current manifestation of an evolving consciousness. Following a quarter of a century as lead singer and co-founder for the legendary, St. Croix-based band, Midnite, Vaughn Benjamin. His signature voice and edifying poetry grace an incredibly vast catalog of recordings as “Midnite”. Vaughn’s new revelation as The Akae Beka has quickly gained traction, already releasing 6 albums since 2015 and beginning to echo the world over in reggae music.

Highlighted on this release is the modern roots master, I Grade Dub. “Get Down Tonight” sees BLAKKAMOORE and long-time songwriting and production partner Andrew “Moon” Bain (collectively known as Paperstars) reconnect with Snoop. The duo were among the main writers and producers on Snoop’s Grammy-nominated 2013 reggae album, Reincarnated. 

The animated video, by French illustrator Bilel, stars Snoop and Blakkamoore as aliens who come to earth to “infect” people with good vibes, then fly back to space after hosting a killer party inside a dormant volcano.

Of working with Snoop once more, BLAKKAMOORE says:

“It was an awesome experience. Imagine being in the studio with a legend humble enough to give you creative control, talented enough to accomplish whatever we set out to create and high enough to keep things lit the whole time.”

Previously known as Jahdan, BLAKKAMOORE has been an essential figure in the blending of reggae/dancehall and hip-hop since the 1990s, working with acts ranging from Smif-N-Wessun and DJ Premier to Major Lazer and Lee “Scratch” Perry. 

Originally from Guyana, BLAKKAMOORE moved to Brooklyn at a young age, where he was exposed to hip-hop culture in its early phases. Fusing rap and reggae through his own group Noble Society and cameos on tracks like Smif-N-Wessun’s seminal 1995 single “Sound Bwoy Bureill,” he became a staple on Brooklyn’s Caribbean music underground. An early adopter of dubstep and grime in the US, he later immersed himself in New York City’s electronic music scene working with genre-bending producers DJ/Rupture and Team Shadetek, as well as reggae production outfit Zion I Kings. In 2009, Diplo tapped him as a songwriter and collaborator for Major Lazer, adding his touch to early tracks “Cash Flow”and “Reach For The Stars.” 

Upward Spiral, his fourth album and first as BLAKKAMOORE, is out worldwide April 3rd via Baco Records (France) under license from Lustre Kings Productions.
