Rook and Knowa's "Volume 1." EP is the type of collaboration EP you would expect from two eccentric and genius audio scientists - sort of like Rick and Morty making music. This diverse release includes the Neuro, Electro-Swing, Glitch-Hop anthem "I Got a New Lady", a Moombahton influenced banger with a Jungle Book twist, some straight up sci-fi videogame experimental music, and is finished off with a cinematic head nodding remix by the young California artist, Novascope. Combining interdimensional bass ignitions, eclectic rhythms, stylistic funky beats, and luscious grooves, this experimental EP is a fresh outlook in redefining collaboration and wide-ranging taste. A galactic whirlpool of imaginary, innovative, and next level fusions are felt as each soundscape flows through seamless expressions.

The genre bending, sub rattling, west coast bass slinging Chillage Records is back at it again with it’s 5th Installment of the Crunksauce compilation series. The Northern California based collective has been a fixture in the west coast bass music scene for more than half a decade bringing us delicious bass infused glitch hop, future beats, dubstep, trap and everything in between.

For the first time Chillage Records held open submissions for the Crunksauce compilation, inviting up and coming and established producers to submit their songs for a chance at a spot on the compilation, resulting in 19 tracks of bass heavy goodness from core Chillage members and many new faces adding their own flavor and style to the mix. Chillage Records will be releasing 3 tracks from the compilation a week for the next month a half so do yourself a favor and tune in below for all the bass heavy deliciousness coming your way!

>> Beak Nasty's 'Spilling the Void' has a little bit of funk for everyone. With a smooth hip-hop flavor and a psychedelic finish, this release envelops listeners into a dreamy melodic state. Hailing from Denver, these Minneapolis natives are no newcomers to writing seductive basslines. Turntablist and producer Ryland Sabien, along with drum master Phil Ade, reference various genres throughout including trap, glitch-hop, and chill-out. All the while, sure to make your head nod.

Beak Nasty is a project consisting of producer/turntablist Ryland Sabien (Beaker) and drummer/loopmaster Phil Ade (Foxy Dope) who combine the sounds of hip hop and intense bass lines to create futuristic chill funk/electro soul music.

The project began when Beaker started releasing beats in high school while living in rural northwest Wisconsin. In 2010, halfway through his junior year of high school, he moved to Minneapolis to get more directly involved in the scene and began DJing and producing for hip hop acts Future Fossils (formerly Kids Like Us), Allan Kingdom, Finding Novyon, and a slew of other Minneapolis emcees. He started attending McNally Smith College of Music during his senior year of high school and put out the albums """"When it Rains, it Pours"""" in 2011 and """"The Expanding Universe"""" in 2012 along with collaborations, singles, and remixes.

Shorty after the release of his third album """"Chill Funk Files Vol. 1"""" in July 2013, Beaker changed the name of the project to Beak Nasty. Right around the same time, Foxy Dope moved to Minneapolis and the duo connected almost instantly. Phil informed Ryland that he would now be drumming for him and since then, they’ve been playing non stop shows, house parties, and festivals all around the country. It was also around this time the Beak Nasty collaborated with Vaski on the track """"Weightless"""" which has gone on to receive nearly 10 million plays (and counting) since being released.

In August 2015, they released the 6 track EP """"The World is Real"""" and left Minneapolis to find some new inspiration out in Colorado. Shortly after, they went on their first headlining national tour hitting 20+ dates all around the US. Now, the duo are hard at work on new material and plotting ways to take over the world aka spread the word of chill funk.

Beak Nasty - Digital Rising

Two new contributors to Outtallectuals, 5AM and Eviali flex as the funkblasters, teaming up to bring us 'Still', their contribution to the Warpball compilation. The song features 5AM on production and keyboard duties, while Eviali gives us a healthy dose of his soulful guitar licks.

Multiplex is a very special tune out via @timeresonance on their Eclecta I compilation! 
The release represents a year of collection and intention and includes 17 tunes from some really top-notch producers including Dillard, Mindex, Supertask, kLL sMTH, Shwex, and so many more talented homies. On top of the roster, the stylistic curation and order of these tracks is so synchronistic considering the range of artists and styles involved. There's this thread of vibey lush chillness throughout the whole journey. One of my favorite comps I've been involved in and I highly recommend a listen from start to finish.
