akufen - Deja Vu 1.1

Kicking off the New Year with Yerevan-based DJ and producer yutani and his latest EP, Dead Whales. This four-track release explores ritualistic, esoteric electronica, crafted using a combination of DAW production and field recordings. Active in the music scene since 2020, yutani has released tracks on labels like Ferma, Get Busy, and many others.

Dead Whales is a sonic journey filled with rhythms and textures designed to evoke an esoteric atmosphere, drawing inspiration from yutani's childhood memories. The EP's title track incorporates whale sounds that are eerie and otherworldly, a choice so striking it inspired the EP’s name. In “Dle Yaman,” yutani weaves the vocals of legendary Armenian folk singer Hayrik Muradyan, performing the traditional song “Dle Yaman,” into his composition.
