I have a collection of cheap instruments that I have picked up on my travels or been given as gifts. One day a long time ago I decided it would be fun to try to get creative with them. I invited my good friend Eddy to lay down some vocal parts. Unfortunately after this I fell out of love with music production and the files have been on my mac for ages. Today I decided to finish the track. I hope it brings someone some joy.

Gumising Ka 2022

My students recorded this song on the last week of lessons. Lila engineered, Joel on drums, Solomon on bass, Farrah on vocals, Louis on keys and I'm on guitar. The whole recording process took roughly 2 hours. 
It was an absolute pleasure to teach these guys and I'm really proud of this version of the song. 
A new version will come out once the overdubs have been mixed in.

Drum and Bach - Prelude

This is an instrumental version of a song I wrote a while back. I used Split EQ to split the tonal and transient parts so each could be processed separately then put back together. There is a larger reverb in the intro than in the main body of the song. There's also plenty of mistakes, enjoy.

Friday Morning Solo

This was a really fun recording session involving 24 musicians and a pair of mics in Blumlein configuration. Panning was achieved by moving the musicians around the mic array, Balance of volume and reverb was achieved by changing the distance of the musicians to the mics. Mics are panned hard left and right. The room wasn't ideal as it had no treatment and was a long rectangle but we made it work. Stereo bus has midside EQ low cutting bass in the sides. Split EQ used to reduce the kick and high hat transients and levelling the bass guitar. Compressor with fast attack for a subtle squeeze. UATape for gentle saturation and vintage sonic feel. Finally a limiter with true peak detection stopping the peaks from clipping.
