We are proud to present the 2nd release on our label by our good friend Solar Suite, with a remix from fellow Aussie and Step Ball Chain label head Roza Terenzi. We've been friends for a while now and love what he's been doing so getting him on the label was a natural progression for us.

“This EP was written throughout Melbourne's 2020 lockdown, what seems like an eternity ago...In hindsight, it provided me with the perfect opportunity to grow and learn as a producer. Finding the motivation and drive to write and finish these tracks was a definite challenge, but overall something I am very proud of and ecstatic to have the opportunity to be working with Adam, Marlon, Chris and Katie to bring this to life.” - Solar Suite

As usual we will be releasing in both vinyl and digital formats, with the vinyl featuring another full sleeve of art from the amazing Bristol based Patch D Keyes with worldwide distribution being handled by One Eye Witness.

On May 20th On Rotation returns for their first VA release - Genetic Memories Vol. 1. 🧠

Anderson opens the release with the mystical  ‘Polymorphic Magic’ - a low-slung builder combining deep synths with sampled instrumentation. 

“I’m a huge fan of self resonating / overtone instruments so using the Fujara was a no brainer. A naturally psychedelic sounding instrument, I wanted to accompany the flutey pipe with a deeper and low-mid tempo chug.” - Anderson

Next up is Musty Head Records main man Jamie Leather - combining the tight drums and skilful melodic work of his previous releases with all the influences we love, ‘Discovery’ is sure to get any party going.

Leading the B-Side of the record is Ed Hodge's ‘Atreides’ - a tough yet playful banger drawing influences from across the spectrum of UK music. Gun fingers guaranteed! 

“It’s probably the fastest, rowdiest track I’ve made under the Ed Hodge moniker and pulls influences from house, trance and speed garage.” - Ed

Closing the release, we speed things up and travel deep into the past with Phazma's ‘Arrakeen’. Featuring ethereal synths, driving rhythms and beefy low end, this floaty number works just as well at home as in the club - a perfect way to round off the EP!

On Rotation is a Leeds based event & mix series turned label with their debut release (Adam Pits' album 'A Recurring Nature') being one of last year’s highlights and a frequent sight on end of year lists. This was followed by ‘Slingshot’, an intergalactic voyage from Solar Suite with Roza Terenzi on the remix.

Afterburners roaring, our voyage brings us to Interaxial, exploring the weightier side of Manami’s sound. Evoking images of an interplanetary battle, laser synth barrages flash across the skies of this heads down techno thumper.

On the flip side, Overture One prepares for docking protocols, slowly drifting on cosmic winds back towards the ambient mothership. Pulsating synth wobbles take the helm and ride the driving baseline into the sunset.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the known cosmos, Adam Pits ignites an extra-terrestrial dancefloor with his aptly titled ‘Stomp’ remix of Overture One. Alien booties shake to a breakbeat tip before morphing into a squelchy cosmic slugger. Tentacles head skyward for Adam’s mind altering sound. Heavy as!

Esteemed proponent of outré dancefloor manoeuvres, Superconscious Records co-founder Fantastic Man makes his Kalahari debut proper.

Having shown up for rework duties on a couple of occasions, we find the mutable oddball at his most trippy and esoteric. In fact, OYSTER42 is the handiwork of a producer who has his formula of balmy, lysergic dance music down to an exact science.

‘Alltogethernow’ gets on a swaggering cosmic tip, all sub-loaded and celestial as levitational arpeggios and funked-up groove dovetail to mesmeric effect. ‘Alpha’, on the other hand, takes a vision quest through enchanted jungle terrain. Initiating with a hypnotic ritual chant, it’s tunnelling and murkily psychedelic; occulted dancefloor rapture tailor-made for the wormhole interior.

As if it were some artefact from a distant ‘90s utopia, Bioxy’ evokes a time when warehouse parties littered the Melbourne landscape. Where its predecessor evokes ceremony and ritual, this is an anachronistic, dilated flashback to simpler times. FM kicks it languid and life-affirming on the closing number. Radiant synth lines flutter with a gentle headiness as ‘Trojan Force’ takes us full circle with a reprise of the rainforest FX.

out the shape of the old brickwork above the shadow of the trees. It had been there for thousands of years, untouched and mysterious in the midst of the thick, dense jungle. It was said that inside there were precious jewels and treasures from a bygone era and that was what they were here to find out.

The ‘Turtle’, as it was known by the locals’ had never been explored before for it was said to be cursed with ancient spells and dark magic which might make it treacherous for an untrained adventurer. Yet now, here they were, wandering towards the magnificent old structure with the intent of raiding all it laid claim to. It was time to enter the turtle..


 
Fio Faa is set to kickstart a new record label, Sunset Drifters. The first release on the newly launched imprint comes from himself and features four fast paced tracks which sit somewhere between the domain of house, nu trance and techno. This track in particular remained us of those old race car video games from the 90’s, the type where a fast car careered through the snow capped mountain side in glorious pixelated chaos.

Rhythm Department Records label boss and Manchester house giant Swales readies the tenth release on Distant Horizons, showcasing his signature blend of ecstatic rhythms, playful melodies and vivid, late-night excursions. Having become synonymous as a purveyor of quality house through his releases with Dansu Discs, Slothboogie and Honey Butter Records - the UK based producer provides a constant nod to the roots of dance through his own futuristic lens. 

Opening the release is ‘Faded Dreams’, a beautifully crafted track that ebbs and flows amongst sweat induced hugs and tears on the dance floor. The mantra ‘everything must fade’ is voiced softly, speaking to the transient nature of time while embodying the trascendental effect music can have. ‘Waves’ then invites a flow state of peace and tranquility, through its steady pace and oceanic blue textures - the drifting sonics are inviting, encouraging listeners to become lost within their layered arms. 

‘Open Your Mind’ picks up perfectly where ‘Waves’ left off with its jazz infused melodies and organic grooves. The mood radiates new city energy - the first wide-eyed experience of new smells, sights and the shining promise of opportunity. The pleasure dial is turned up to 100 in ‘Looking Back’ Swales capturing the distinctive energy from early house records with a progression of bubbling basslines, infectious chords and nostalgic vocal samples.

Following outings on Slump, Hâws & Schimmer, mpeg makes his Semi-Delicious bow with an all killer, no filler collection of acidic tinged, progressive bombs.The release kicks off with the hypnotic ‘I Do Me’. The track rolls effortlessly into a crescendo of synthetic stabs, panning acid and a throbbing bass fit for Goa. Starting off with a bang, we roll into the breakbeat inflected ‘Kotanyi’. We’re treated to more psychedelic, progressive goodness with a slightly more brooding tone. Subtle keys lighten the track’s final stanza giving it serious sunrise set potential.

B1 gives us the colourful ‘Thanks For Calling’. Swirling bleeps and descending acid lines contrast the records balearic sensibilities setting the tone nicely for the Ice Cream side of Semi Delicious’ 13th outing. ‘You Do You’ brings with it broken beats, a top line akin to golden era Italian house and more citrus-y undertones that characterise the record. ‘Shapeshifter’ wraps up the affair with a bang employing an almost speed garage-esque low end below the psychedelic symphony of extraterrestrial sonics dancing above
