2022 Releases

A1 East Vision by Milanese’s finest Uabos uncovers an extraordinary musical experience with a lot of twists and twirls that are skilfully crafted. Constructed of mouth-watering synth textures and dusty melodic samples that hover over the rolling bass engine, Uabos surely delivers a dancefloor killer.

Herzel’s Transformation as the A2 track adds deep blue melodic depth on top of icy rhythmic pattern. It tickles the senses as sharp leads and powerful kicking stabs appear above the grinding bass line, providing mesmeric effect.

Flute Power’s Discothalia heats up the B side. Lush breaks and ripples meet a cloud-bursting bass line, intertwining with the ethereal vocal traces that unveil throughout the composition and into infinity.

Metropolitan Soul Museum in the closing B2 track Former Glory introduces a delicately structured musical narrative that has blocks of steady rhythmic percussion accompanied with unforeseeable melodic samples and tender vocal cut-ups.

Join Metropolitan Soul Museum for the grand opening of the Kulture Galerie release series in 2022.

Kulture Galerie is London-based duo Metropolitan Soul Museum's mix series, live every 2 months on Radio. The show's concept is to give an opportunity to the artists invited to select non-club / home listening music where a variety of influences and cultures and different dichotomies of the same form of expression. The various artists releases that will follow each year, will include 6 original tracks from the 6 artists involved in the shows.

'Kulture Galerie Year 1', out on a limited number of CDs distributed by Lobster Distribution and mastered by Nerang and Gestalt's Nørus, includes 6 non genre specific tracks from the first 6 guests: MSM's partner in crime Herzel (Hivern Discs, Uncanny Valley), Echocentric Records's boss Timo Deeprhythms, prolific US producer Aspetuck, Lyssna Records' main man Adam Stromstedt, Regelbau's affiliate K-Dallas under his Exo Ghost moniker and finally an original track from Metropolitan Soul Museum.

You are all invited to grab a copy of 'Kulture Galerie Year 1', out in 2022.

VA - Year 1 [CLIPS]

There were strange ghouls and mysterious ghosts which haunted the streets at night. They left no trace by the light of the morning yet beneath the shadow of darkness they acted as reapers and villains, picking up lost souls. 

It was hard to say where they'd come from and how they'd found themselves to be in this world. They seemed to float faintly between the cobbled streets, leaving behind a cold chill in the dense fog of the midnight. 

Were they some kind of strange magic? Were they simply an illusion of the mind? Something we might want to believe in rather than a fact...?

Metropolitan Soul Museum have fast become a duo to keep an eye on - their music is distinctly innovative, drawing upon elements of krautrock and leftfield electronica. This time they offer up a collection of house based music for Public Release on an EP called 'The Pleasure Principle'. It's a strong EP.

There was a crackle as the radio sprung to life. A voice beckoned through the old system, he did not know from where it came and what it meant. Strange noises filled the room and the transmission buzzed and echoed in the chamber. This was the third time that they had tried to communicate with life beyond planet earth…

Space was a myriad of opportunities and unexplored adventures. It had always been but a matter of time before they finally managed to connect with something not from this world. Now that they’d found it they wondered whether whatever they’d found might become friend or foe.

New Moon is set to release a beautiful record via Craigie Knowes. ‘Spins, Parities & Multipolarities’ is comprised of six beautiful ambient experiments – a collection of material far removed from the club ready sounds we usually associate with the label and producer.

Following the sublime smash debut “X17”, LA-based label Elbow Grease head conductor Dave Aju continues on his righteous piece-by-piece journey toward a multi-genre multiverse, where deep musical roots come together in kaleidoscopic expression, and unfakeable funk reigns supreme. 

“Spacio Tempo” picks up where we last left off, though with a notable drop in bpm as the title implies, with a rolling 4/4 textural tapestry that combines pulsating layers of soulful synth work, effervescent live percussion, and heavenly strings into a dense yet open-as-the-night-sky extended gem yet again. Just as the machine patterns of near-equator rhythms bubble over and begin to lock into a hypnotic groove, a bold left turn into a dank latin jazz noir vibraphone solo and SH-101 duet tango ensues, before landing us safely back at home base - right on time, at its own spacial pace. 

As per the Elbow Grease release recipe so far, the B1 cut offers DJs a more driving flex, this time in the form of the “Acido Tempo Mix”: a raw 303-driven take on the original which will undoubtedly stomp its way fiercely thru many bass bins in sweaty basements and warehouses worldwide. Finally the B2 blessing “Domingo Dub” closes things out, removing all but the highest vibes as an ambient drifting and uplifting take on the main theme, where the faintest of vocal tones, space echoes, and light percussive touches leave us elated in a West Coast, with subtle splashes from the D, sunset dream. Another solid single turned three-tracker sure-shot from EG.

Berlin based Arttu has been dropping his dusty fat beats across numerous techno labels including Philpot, Clone and 4Lux for a few years but it was 2016’s track ‘Hoodies’ on Arttu’s own imprint Cyblo that caught the attention of Accidental label boss Matthew Herbert (and which remains firmly in Herbert’s record bag). Arttu was invited onto the Accidental Jnr roster and has delivered a chunk of techno with so much swing it made Donkey Kong blush.

Arttu takes the most simple of jazz bass hooks and loops across a rigid kick, it’s when those hats kick in that the groove goes fucking wild. The presence of US native Roberto Q Ingram on vocals brings a full Detroit gangster flavour to the party. Initially Arttu and Roberto had an idea to record a simple and sweaty track with Roberto on the mic and Arttu at the control of some dusty old machines. The result, ‘Bass Trakk’ is exactly that: Roberto dropping lyrics over a raw beat and a massive bassline. The EP is rounded off with a deep bit of techno ‘Debris’ with all the trappings of the darkest hour of a Berlin winter in which it was recorded.

Molly continues to cement RDV’s reputation as a refreshing outlet for contemporary house with the expertly-curated Recit De Voyage Volume 2, a generous compilation that collects a number of established and upcoming producers to deliver vital, sincere and wholly individual music.

Leading the charge is Finale Sessions founder Michael Zucker, who follows his appearance on RDV's first release (as one half of the duo Prophets of a New Generation) with ‘City Streets’; having previously appeared on recordd with the likes of Terrence Dixon, Boo Williams and Norm Talley, he delivers his own nocturnal vision, a gentle and smooth soundtrack for warm Midwestern nights. Molly’s own contribution ‘Poble New’ follows, demonstrating her well-established mastery of tight grooves, atmosphere and subtle jack.

Douala, an artist associated with cult label Blorp, brings us ‘Orbiting’, a powerful slice of liquid funk. 
Modern House Quintet, presents ‘Plaka’, his first release away from his MHQ imprint, and arguably the record’s outright deepest moment. 
The founder of Popcorn Records, Siler ups the tempo for ‘French Manicure’, a playful, fizzy house bubbler.
Discovered at New York’s Elsewhere club during only his second-ever gig, John Silas represents the Eastern seaboard on irresistibly smooth cut ‘One Time’. 
Silas’s nocturnal groove leads in nicely to the more experimental, dense forest of sound forged by Kristian Amou & The Modern Quintet Ensemble on Bokobimbo. 

Finally, Orion hits with the MPC front-and-center for the undeniable groove of ‘Just Have You’, which rolls sensually towards a soulful vocal sample, culled from the dustiest of wax.

Fauve Records head honcho RFX kicks us off with his work on Assid Rayn. With the infamous releases on Fauve as well as the always welcomed Bandcamp Friday special “Ephemeral Edits” releases, we’ve been waiting to collaborate with this fella and me-oh-my was the wait worth it. ASSS-ASSSIIIIID. We continue with a couple of legends in this so-called “edits game”. Running Hot, the infamous duo from UK that does not need any introduction, and among our personal favourites. Our homegrown Aaron Maple continues on the third act, where he does his usual magic on My Maya. To end the 9th edition, Miro-Benji breaks the beat with World Championships. A track that stays true to its title and works just as well in a sweaty warehouse as it does in a Colin McRae rally game in the arcade hall. This is one we suggest you save for a special post-covid moment, when the dance floor is your oyster and the crowd is in the palm of your hands.
