Created in winter 2020, the band brings together producers Gabriel Rei and Gene Tellem, singer/songwriter Laroie, and drummer Pascal Deaudelin. ‘Volume I’ is presented as the fruit of this reunion, an ideal pairing for seekers of dancefloor influenced reflection. Lost in Brooklyn

Some were straight and abhorrent whilst others were rugged and disorganised, cluttered like etched shapes upon a bumpy rock. These were the lines of his youth, each told a story of something from his past and if you followed it from end to end you might just weave far enough to find yourself back at the start. Out here in the middle of the rocky outback there were lines and stories to be found everywhere. You simply had to read between them all and follow suit. 

Sketchy Lines is a newly launched project based in Brussels, described as a multi gender project the imprint is focussed on graphic design, experimental music and collaboration. The first release comes from label founder Salah, an intriguing record which shows signs of promise for the future of the label.

Nobody's life was perfect but he started to think he'd been dealt a far worse hand than many others. Several toxic relationships, a myriad of lost jobs and unsuccessful opportunities, not to mention the countless mishaps, had seemed to be the dish of the day since his youth. Luck had never been on his side and things just didn't seem to go his way; he'd come to terms with living with it after all these years. 

Previously shrouded in mystery, Brother Nebula is the moniker of dance music veteran Lance Desardi who, over the last few years, has crafted cosmic and atmospheric breaks and house. He made his debut on Legwork back in 2018 with a collaborative EP alongside Solar, before quickly following it up with his first solo releases on the same label. Last year saw him land on Nick Höppner's Touch From A Distance, but now he makes a triumphant return to Legwork once again for The Physical World, an album of retro-futurist and interstellar electronics.

Premiere: Nørus - Red Sky [Deviant Episode]

Ambient soundscapes, dubbed out chords and swirling arps: Subtle Oscillations is a compilation of blissful sonic textures from a collection of up and coming producers associated with the Size 13 collective.

Opening the EP is the luscious and dub infused “Candle Lit” from Manchester producer 4TGANG. The soothing vocals and gradually building percussive elements of the track leave the listener in a state of euphoria.

Tortuga, co-founder and resident of Size 13 follows on from Candle Lit with a 7 minute journey of sound. Ambient breakdowns and wonky synths can be heard alongside the constant flow of running water on this one. 

Reaching the energetic climax of the EP, Still Sinking is a deep and wobbly breakbeat grooves, with chopped vocal samples and melodic synth chords to accompany the shuddering bassline.

Persona Audio takes on the 4th track with “Midnight Express”. Atmospheric pads and soothing chords over a brilliantly programmed house beat, this tune is a perfect tune for the end of a set/ the after party.

Closing the EP, Gibbin’s “Butter Knife” is a downtempo stroke of genius. Sharp synth lines and syncopated drum beats have seen this tune picked up and played by DJ Python and Ciel.
