Maruwa bows at the altar of ‘90s prog house and IDM. Classically trained as a pianist, the St. Petersburg born Frankfurt based artist has made it her mission to join the dots between big room rave and a decidedly off-planet approach to melody. Now, making a debut for X-Kalay, that journey continues…

‘Liquid Night’ genuinely sounds like something you might have heard during Love Parade’s golden era. Meshing noirish sci-fi atmosphere with trance synths and EBM flex, the shadowy territory it occupies also carries through to A2’s ‘Midnight Caller’. That said, the followup cut evokes an essence of ‘90s dancefloor utopia, balancing euphoric melodrama with tough, propulsive NRG.

Taking inspiration from mid-‘90s acid prog, ‘Tricky Question’ summons the divine wide-eyed and sublime – less urgent, but still imbued with that '90s halcyon daze. Rudolf C then rounds things off with a fathoms-deep remix. Ushering ’Tricky Question’ into that techy space he navigates so well, the Salt Mines co-founder provides his own spin without losing the essence of the original.

Navigating mystic, offbeat zones, Contact sets out his stall from the start. ‘Out of My Head (Into My Body)’ is as pristine as it is expansive, inducing trance states as trippy flourishes oscillate over driving rhythm in impeccable lysergic style. Then, with another dose of melt-on-the-mind groove, a radiant bliss-out arrives in the beautifully buoyant flex of ‘Sacred Mist’.

Taking its name from a part of the brain associated with emotional processes, ‘Amygdala Tongue Wobble’ propels into fractal introspection with dense, insistent pulse. Welcoming, 'Come Together' - a five track various artists EP drawn from our network of associates locally and internationally. With artists hailing from Japan, Italy, the USA and Australia the 12" features the sounds that bring our families together on dance floors around the globe.

Italy's Matisa opens the record with a designer italo-house trip "Garbadine", armed with punchy drums, a warped guitar loop and hypnotic bass line. Melbourne group Polito's "Wallis Axiom" juxtaposes this with a guttural, gurgling outsider-techno piece. Frenetic percs and crunchy distortion collide with alien FX and bleepy modular synthesis for a dark journey.

On the flip, New York City master producer Physical Therapy jumps into the deep end with "10000% Pure Love", a raw, hard hitting club weapon. The Allergy Season boss distils the pure, unbridled energy of a sweaty dance floor through a woozy bassline and manic cowbell action.

Slowing the pace slightly, Berlin via Japan producer Yuzo Iwata delivers "Acid House" a rugged, growling beast which trips and chugs along as a monstrous 303 weaves in an out of the penetrating vocals "ACID HOUSE". The mysterious Serpent finishes you off with "In The Garden" a syncopated drum workout imbued with a ritualist, primitive energy by the heavily layered percussion and flickering synths.
