Russia's Radial Gaze duo lands on Thisbe Recordings for the release of their 'Refined' EP. The project features three original tracks and two remixes. Drawing on Andrey’s background as a resident DJ at Skotny Dvor club and Stas’ background as a sound designer and both theatre and musical director, ‘Refined’ is a perfect representation of the dramatic club music the duo are known for. We are airing the remix contribution from Theus Mago today.

We believe that the violation of human rights is unacceptable. With Hand to Hand VA we want to draw public attention to this problem and provide assistance to organizations involved in helping people faced with arbitrariness. We have brought together like-minded musicians who share the ideas of cooperation, freedom and unity.
All proceeds from the VA will be split equally between the Russian human rights organizations: Mediazona (an independent media platform focused on the judiciary, law enforcement and penal system in Russia founded by Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and OVD-Info (an independent human rights media project aimed at combating political persecution)".


The Hand to Hand VA geography is: Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Romania, France, Ukraine, Israel, Lithuania, Greece, the Netherlands and the USA.

PREMIERE: Roe Deers — Get Out! (Hand to Hand Charity VA)

Cadee makes his Factor City (@factorcity) debut with three great original tracks driven with leftfield electronics and  followed by healthy remixes by Jackwasfaster (@jackwasfaster) and label honcho Undo (@undo).

Cadee is the project through which Diego Cadierno releases his more dancefloor oriented works. 

After more than five years exploring more “brain” fields (idm, breaks, electro...) with his alias Promising/Youngster, which allowed him to release in labels like Sin Hilo, Nebulae or Several Roots and play live all around Spain, Diego feels the need to go back to his more hedonist roots. This “Happiness” EP is the first released under this moniker. 

Opening the record we find “Besta”.  A very personal song with sinuous synth lines and filters. The percussions and vocals, along with the bass line drives a hypnotic and deep track. JackWasFaster remix is more raw, edgy and straight to the dance-floor, playing with the orginal synths and vocals, and adding what sounds like a distorted synthetic mouth harp.

The second track “Moving Circles” it's a playful and melodic song that captures the essence of Cadee’s approach, teasing the release with its floor-focussed sharp beats and synth stabs. 

Closing the Ep the tittle track “Happiness” it is a reflection on the happiness and responsibility of bringing a child into the world. A deep and wide tune with arpeggiated bass riffs, haunting vocals and vaporous guitars.

Undo strips down the original of its more Pop elements, vocals and guitars, and pays homage to the bass in his remix adding an hypnotic groove and mental synth lines.

Playground Records is pleased to present “Swing Ride”, the 38th’s label reference by a dear friend of the house, the mighty Roe Deers. Almost two years after ‘Lazer in the Jungle’, his first vinyl release on our catalogue and with a bunch of hot releases on labels like Turbo Recordings and Futureboogie under his arm, the Lithuanian maverick is back with a brand new EP.

‘Swing Ride’ is a mysterious percussion song with crazy horns. It feels like the ‘Ship of Fools’ calling before setting sail, but It’s basically a club-ready track to be played in a proper dark and sweaty room.
‘Glass Around’ is a bit more raw, you might sense the expansive wave of a strong psychedelic punch. Finally, the third original track, ‘Autobahn 2002’, could work as a homage to the legendary German robots.

On the remix side, Multi Culti’s boss Thomas Von Party delivers a twisted narcotic version of ‘Swing Ride’, meanwhile Mexican geek ALF CHAMPION turns ‘Glass Around’ toward a dub-experimental mix.

"Some men are at home where others would be scared to tiptoe; Enter MILF Recordings, a new label that mysteriously emerges from nowhere (and everywhere at the same time). Immediately present in the artwork, a sex charged energy, reminiscent of a 80’s - 90’s heyday, intended for mature audiences only. Perhaps it lives on in this latest delivery from our good friend, “UNKNOWN ARTIST.” The opening scene, I mean track... “Adicktion” (Milf’s Edit) - a tough, rolling, disco-esque bassline, somewhat of a theme throughout the release, drives the listener, over shimmering, analog drums that gradually boil over into a synthy intensity, all while you are serenaded to the excited confessions of a sex addict. Track 2, “Dame Mature,” lowering the tempo somehow brings out a more mechanical sensuality in the track’s sampling, blending together voices, and more, over a cutting bassline, that patiently establishes a steady, easy to follow rhythm, which ends with what appears to be cracks of a whip, if that’s something you enjoy. The closing track, “Asstronomy” (Fuck Off Edit), a type of erotic, post apocalyptic outro, through space. More aggressive, and then later sludgy, pulsating, bass tones keep the energy moving, into an interestingly dubby, droning, breakdown, that would surely create some excellent mixing opportunities for any remotely creative DJ, possibly. All around, a solid collection for fans of dark disco edits, that any sweaty, open minded dancefloor would surely embrace, assuming there is a DJ in the building who is capable of wielding such a fiery trio.

A final note, for those who might only have eyes for vulgarity, where there is only music, offering their unsolicited judgment, I ask, how did you get here? Don’t answer that question."

The St. Petersburg-based label Avacha debuts on our platform with “999% HITS”, a vital 8-track compilation that amasses an interesting selection of domestic and not so domestic artists devoted to presenting the dark side of the contemporary music made both in Russia and the surrounding territories: Panorama Channel, Volta Cab, Wolfstream, White Magik, Soft Metal, Bogdan, Radial Gaze, and Olta Karawane spared no efforts to provide a proper showcase of their production skills, bringing together high standard pieces to enhance the importance of the VA release.

The track we were kindly solicited to review brings Kirill Rem aka White Magik depicting how disco mating with (good quality) early trance elements sounds. “Darkness” is definitely one of the highlights of the compilation. The intense synth layer and the vocal hooks led us into a journey through White Magik’s world: “Esoteric metamodern dance music filled with love, stress, and release.”
