After a release that did not go unnoticed on Ulla Records first VA “In Motion”, Austher is back with his debut EP “Hybrid Humans”.

His first standalone project flirts with a dystopian, transhumanist and dark-disco-inspired universe. Always blending genres, he subverts the codes of rock and disco with electronic sonorities, to craft his retro-inspired yet resolutely modern sound.

The opening track “Hybrid Humans” sets the stage for the transhumanist journey to come : arpeggiated basslines, catchy leads and bouncing drums making up for an ambiguous, bitterly naive, track. But the reality check comes quickly. “Mind Threat” promptly sets for a much darker tone, with heavy driven basslines, dramatic synths and intense build-ups. “Humanity Resilience” takes this dystopian road a step further. Shaped around hypnotizing melodies, this track pushes up to the edge of rationality. “Prophecy” strikes as a final statement, fully embracing the experimental turn this journey has taken, with its heavy synths, and gnarly acid basslines !

Abandon all preconceptions you have about the future, and dive in Austher’s transhumanist story !

Almost two years after ‘Lazer in the Jungle’, his first vinyl release on Playground Records' catalogue, and with a bunch of hot releases on labels like Turbo Recordings and Futureboogie under his arm, the Lithuanian maverick is back with a brand new EP. The package features a variety of vibes ranging from club-ready tracks to psychedelic rollers. On the remix side, Multi Culti’s boss Thomas Von Party delivers a twisted narcotic version of ‘Swing Ride’, meanwhile Mexican geek ALF CHAMPION turns ‘Glass Around’ toward a dub-experimental mix.

If Guatemala is on the map of the Dark Disco/Indie Dance scene, it is because of the global recognition Fabio Me Llaman Solteiro (SXDNS187) has achieved as a DJ and producer. Now, in order to consolidate even more the importance of the Caribbean country to the high-quality underground music world, Fabio established the project Sonido Moderna, a micro-label and music collective devoted to showcasing the interesting Central American sonority through the release of original pieces and collaborations with international artists.

After the acclaimed debut album, a compilation featuring local heroes Alan Es, Mike Rowave, Mverto Futura, and Fabio himself, plus Martian Superstars Hanzo & Yaman (SXDNS065), ID_UA (SXDNS229), MIJO, Max Jones (SXDNS234), among others, the second episode – “Gentel Decay” EP – brings together Israeli producer Mishell (SXDNS228) and a Latino Dream Team: ALF CHAMPION, Balam (SXDNS048), and Mike Rowave, who provided savoury remixes.

The track we chose to review/premiere brings ALF CHAMPION, an experimental producer, DJ, and visual artist from Guadalajara, Mexico, remodelling and overhauling the already intricate “Lost My Bongo's”. The Shamanic aura of the original is still present in ALF’s version but is now not so evident. The Mexican virtuoso took Mishell’s theme to a more breakbeat and old school rave-ish road whose outcome is a track more embodied and dirtier, ready to wreak havoc on the dance floor. Hats off, lad!

Eye sight blurred, head spinning; he dropped to the floor with outstretched hands. Fumbling around on the floor he struggled to pick himself up, grasping at unknown objects to help him find a way to his feet. On standing he noticed a large lump forming on the top his head, which began to throb ferociously as he steadied himself. But how this had come to be here, he didn't know. In fact, he couldn't remember anything... 

Slow Motion records launch into 2021 with a debut EP from Florence renaissance man Tulioxi, who continues to fly the label's flag for Italian Dance Wave. The five original tracks on The Japanese Message are a nod to the vintage sounds of Europe but brought into the present — hypnotic machine-funk and furious drumwork are matched with high energy basslines and video-age melodies, which get reimagined by Altieri and Armonics on the flip.

This Album, a child of the Shelter Me Festival in December 2020, is in Aid of Shelter UK and the
wonderful work they do to helping people with homelessness or difficult housing conditions.
The Festival took place over 3 days, across the 3 cities of Manchester, London and Leeds, and
several of the artists who performed live at the event have contributed to this production too.
The track used for the project is entitled Shake Up Your Mind by Steady State which contains a
vocal sample of Ofra Haza from her song entitled Im Nin Alu. All remixes were created with the
greatest love and respect, with one common goal, to help others less fortunate than ourselves
through music, unity and genuine will to make a positive change.
Each and every one of the artists, producers and mastering services have generously given their
time freely to create a unique album of 21 remixes, spanning a colourful musical spectrum from
Dense Dark Dubbiness, through Timeless Techno and Uplifting Acid, to Squelchy Squalid
Chuggers.
This is a limited release set for 05.03.21 with all proceeds going the Shelter Uk.
All of us at Shelter Me would like to thank everyone who has helped, supported and contributed
along the way.
