Paradiso Records share their latest release, a new five track EP courtesy of Señor Chugger. The imprint's rapidly growing catalog welcomes Bristol-based DJ and producer Señor Chugger for the release of his "Day Party Nostalgia" EP. Containing four original cuts, plus an additional remixes from Fall Forward, the package features bright chuggers with an high energy approach. We're streaming "For A Friend" in full today.

Premiere: Señor Chugger - For A Friend [Paradiso Records]

Quartier Groove Records releases its first EP “Ritmo del Barrio” that features two club weapons from the Spanish electronic music vaults of the 90s, TYU’s remix of Bravo & Dj’s 1989 one-hit wonder “Difacil Rap”, and Richard Fribert’s rework of the early electronic rumba track “Sueño Almohade” by Sombra y Luz. Both tracks have been licensed and agreed with the original labels and writers, and will be limited to 300 copies.

On the a-side, an edgy club revision of a 90s hip-house track that was originally written by a group of DJs compelling us to join them for a wild night out. TYU’s remix, that only makes use of the rad rapapella, makes a perfect match to the daring call and takes us to a 90s rave of today in full style, with its bold drums, slappy snares, trancy synths and road-paving bassline.

The flip comes with Richard Fribert’s powerful and fearless hi-NRG rework of the experimental rumba song “Sueño Almohade” by Sombra y Luz, a track that makes a clear flirt with the history of Spain, a country that was once the Muslim ruled area of “Al-Andalus”. Spanish passion meets Arabic mystique in this hard, slamming, acid ride of an update. The result, a DJ weapon to be reckoned with.

The two tracks comes together to form Ritmo del Barrio EP, “Quartier Groove” in Spanish, the project by label heads Richard Fribert & MOQST that was designed to encourage listeners to search for more unknown and forgotten music in the most unexpected of corners of the world.

After a long process, we managed to get in touch with an
Australian four-piece that went by the name of Boxcar from 86-92, producing a lot of music ahead of its time.

They’ve recently started re-issuing their songs with modern producers on remix duty and after asking Romain FX to work on a remix, it was only natural that Fauve Records would work on a limited-edition vinyl-only release with a stellar cast.

For this edition, we have asked some of the coolest cats in the game to hand us a remix with their specific touch and an array of bangers came about. Donald’s House with a rave house-inspired remix, Fabrizio Mammarella with a more EBM/Italo touch, Jonny Rock with a dubby finger- licking-good take, and of course Romain FX with an intergalactic voyage.

PREMIERE: Boxcar - Comet (Fabrizio Mammarella Remix) [Fauve Records]

Something very special here with Slow Motion’s 48th release. 

Recorded while experimenting with gear at CIMM studios (Venice Biennale’s centre for computer music which Bottin co-designed in 2019), EYE-BM is a joint release between two of our heaviest hitters: hairy Fabrizio Mammarella and baldie Bottin. 

EYE-BM is three tracks of sinister music, sweaty electro with tinges of cyberpunky EBM and New Beat. The icing on the cake is the euphoric remix from Italian synth wave pioneer Alexander Robotnick. 
The acidic and jacking flavour might as well be the sound of your mind and body losing it on the dancefloor or missing your stop on the ass-bahn. Turn the dial up to 11. Or 12.

Premiere: AIKON & Aidentique - Choise [Selador]

Ethereal pads ease us above the clouds, then as the kick gradually takes over we are slowly but surely pulled back down to earth. As the sub bass enters the fray, our feet are firmly on the ground treading a familiar four four groove; reminiscent of the bleep/warp days of Sheffield and the skipping snares of Renegade Soundwaves 'Thunder.' In an almost pitch black warehouse, a solitary green laser skits across raised hands and swirling strawberry scented smoke. Spacious repeated melodies scatter in and out of the ethereal pads and cavernous sub bass give us a sense of hope to a better future.

The eight chapter of the infamous Slow Motion Compilation series, “Italian Dance Wave Disco Otto”, has quite some hidden gems to be discovered. Beginning with a track from Marcello Giordani DJ (half of the duo Marvin & Guy), that expresses a perfect Italian melancholic sunset (as the title also states), energetic, strong, but always poetic. Always following that “beachy” vibes we find The Caribbean House, serving a track that could last a century, and we would never mind. Electro hints mixing with deep and balearic vibes: ears glued to the headphones. Moreover, we have again Slow Motion queen, System Olympia with a track that could make even nuns sweat on the dance floor: beats and bass to die for. To close this chapter, you can pamper your ears with a angry balearic track from Gallo, not suited for the more weak hearts, that’s for sure.

Mostly known for his works with the Ears on Earth label and BF Treatment duo, JAI does what he usually does best on his edit of Magic Fly; Mixing up ravey 90’s sounds with a modern twist. Lau Tropico then proceeds with his take on Djulu, that eases us for the heavier load coming in later. Aaron Maple do his usual magic that we’ve all been accustomed to with his edit of This Is A Sound. A sure-fire party starter that’ll make even the most modest guest make this feet do a 1-2 step. Ramin and Reda continues on, where Aaron left us, with their heavily middle-eastern inspired Dehati and guides us for our final number by the man behind the operation; Miro-Benji. The release ends with, in his own words, an “anti-edit” of Love Will Tear Us Apart. One of those tracks that is perfect as an ender but still leaves the listener urging for more.
