From rocking it all over the globe to releasing a plethora of absolute yessmate bangers & a long player too, we're pretty thrilled that they have joined our family of music makers with their double A side E.P. 'Trans Pennine Express'.

GCP gets the party started and instantly takes you to 4am at Barbarellas Discotheque with stacks of throbbing-ness & pumping, laser reaching vibes whilst the boys take you down a wormhole of electronic music pleasure.

Condor jumps ships from Barbarellas & hot foots it over to Berlin to sweat it out in basement with only a smoke machine for company and tons of ravers. Pulsating synth surfs across a chubby bass with some slick as heck cosmic stabs making this a multitude of all that is good in proper dance music.

If the originals are on the dance floor then we made sure to go full on weirded out on the remixes and crikey they don't disappoint! ELLES totally flips the script on GCP and turns in a hazy, broken beat style electro groover with a full vocal giving it the sound of a lost track by A Certain Ratio. 

Psychederek takes the 'make sure to go really wonky!' advice we gave when sending the parts to Condor and matches ELLES with his full on acid tinged psych wig out rework. Th beat sure broken, the bass guitar punches, the old school piano thumps and the whole thing sounds like an amazing Andrew Weatherall remix from the mid 90's you never knew existed.

Thomas Gandey and Danny McLewin, known from the popular disco-influenced electronic music collective Psychemagik, have once again teamed up as Ghost Vision for the Skakuhachi EP on Paramida’s label, Love on the Rocks. The name shakuhachi means “1.8 shaku,” referring to its size. It is a compound of two words:

1. shaku is an archaic unit of length equal to 30.3 centimeters (0.994 English foot) and subdivided in ten subunits.
2. hachi means “eight”, here eight sun, or tenths of a shaku.

Thus, “shaku-hachi” means “one shaku eight sun” (54.54 centimeters), the standard length of a shakuhachi (a bamboo flute). The bamboo flute first came to Japan from China during the 6th century. During the medieval period, shakuhachi were most notable for their role in the Fuke sect of Zen Buddhist monks, known as komus (“priests of nothingness,” or “emptiness monks”), who used the shakuhachi as a spiritual tool. Their songs (called “honkyoku”) were paced according to the players’ breathing and were considered meditation as much as music.

And that brings us back to the music! The shakuhachi is all over this EP, and the combination of cosmic disco and eastern influences is incredibly appealing. Quite without thinking of the Eastern origins of the instrument which had given the recording certain sonic distinguishments, and of course, its title, Paramida also enlisted the help of two musicians named Alex — one from Tokyo, and one from Kyoto.

Alex from Kyoto, aka Al Kassian, once again delivers an absolutely killer remix ripe with heavy 80s influenced drums and intergalactic acid-tinged synth lines. Playing on the meditative history of the shakuhachi, his remix incorporates deep atmospheres, organic fx, and soothing vocal chops that subdue the driving percussion and truly make the song an expansive journey through sound. It was reported that upon first listening at Love On The Rocks headquarters, wild dancing broke out almost immediately and did not stop for 36 hours. We can see ourselves dancing forever to this too. Now, what do we have here... A brand new offering by Mr. Panthera Krause. You know, Krause as in Riotvan shareholder and co-curator, fun guy behind the decks (and in general) and last but not least innovator and maverick of all things House. Krause has been proven over the course of his previous EPs on Riotvan that his approach to electronic music is one of a kind and never lacks a certain tongue in cheek attitude. Exactly that is now validated by these two new cuts, maybe more concise and on point than ever. And these tunes are not only an indicator about where the boy is at right now, they are also a foretaste of an album that will be released later that year on Riotvan.

Side one contains the "Genki Girl", a character of the rather quirky kind, it seems. Krause introduces a beat rich in cowbell and tambourine use, topped by a guitar lick, that sparks some memories of that time when Funk and Punk fell in love and a label like DFA had its heydays. While adding synth arrangements, one could assume, Krause might've gone a bit bonkers for a second. And that's applying to both, the rhythmic patterns as well as the lead that throughout time gets adapted by various other instruments. A rich and haywire tune that still retains an utmost floor appeal. 

Same goes for "Spring Irre" on the flipside. As the German title already indicates, this one is even nuttier. Guitar samples triggering a certain Talking Heads memento meet eccentric pitchshift modulations and an indeed jumping bass sounding as if it was played by Bootsy Collins on ephedrine. A sidestepping, plain unpredictable monster of a track that despite of all its complexity at any moment delivers groove and joy and unrestricted frenzy.
