This song was born from a journey of getting to know my inner lover and the Sacred Feminine within me. It came through during a time of allowing myself to feel and embrace shame, insecurity, disconnection from pleasure, and fear of intimacy. It was liberating to acknowledge and express these emotions that I had been hiding from myself and others for many years. At the same time, I was calling forth my inner goddess in the form of the lover archetype and the qualities of beauty, sensuality, pleasure, presence, vulnerability, and passion. I was very inspired by a year-long priestess training that guided me to explore and embody the 13 archetypes of the Goddess, including the Lover. On another level, I was also calling in an actual physical lover to share pleasure and intimacy with in a way that was nurturing and healing. And it worked :-)

souls memories released in screams as it touched your skin 

) all at once the burning flooded your mind, back to a time 
when women were burned, matches were struck
 as the clock struck noon 
 townfolk gathered to see you bloom

what would become of those who practiced magic 
what would become of those who knew the ways of the moon
these, the memories, seeds laid in our fertile minds, 
 of tragedies, screams sounding in the halls of the time

Lydia is deeply inspired by inspired by folk, blues, and protest traditions. She also plays with singer/songwriter Ayla Nereo, west coast electronic music group Wildlight (a collaboration between The Polish Ambassador & Ayla Nereo), and gospel blues group Reverend Sekou and the Holy Ghost. She uses her stunning violin sounds and soulful voice to bring her listeners into deep communion with the beauty of our world. Lydia’s musical inspiration arises from her experience in ecological and social justice activism, participating in the great work of restoring peace and dignity to our world. In the past year she has performed alongside Ayla Nereo, the Polish Ambassador, Wildlight, Rising Appalachia, MaMuse, Elephant Revival, Joanna Macy, HAANA, and several others. From electronic funk and Tennessee bluegrass, to old-fashioned blues and classical, Lydia delights in sharing the medicinal power of music.
