m50 @m50 is an enigma. Releasing music as Area for years, starting and running Kimochi in 2010, contributing to the Gramaphone Records blog, DJing worldwide, yet still remaining extremely low-profile, the attention always on the art and never on the person. This same ethos runs through Kimochi. No advertising, likely discovered via word-of-mouth (the way we did), small run releases that aren’t about moving units, always remaining true to a vision of immersive textural sounds presented in a unique and meaningful way. 

The Maybe More Oblong mixtape encapsulates this same spirit, deep melodic techno swims with hallucinatory house and euphoric trance-breaks, each turn a surprise, pushing us down into the murk only to pull us back up into a glowing light.

Scrying the Landscape XIII. Dedicated to particulate bodies, the thirteenth episode of 'Scrying the Landscape' features soundbites from cloudy and sandy fields, and sentimental music for wandering. From accumulated matter to big feelings and turbulent intimacies, this mix drifts beyond the human [at times] to think about 'the tidalectics' of falling apart and holding [it] together. Friends born out of late-night revelling and pandemic living-room rants, together they find respite and a field of inquiry in nearby shores or the memories of more distant ones. The quiet lee-side of the dunes by the North Sea provide shelter and a space to question and practice listening [attunement] and transmission.

Mana Records is a label established in 2017 by Andrea Zarza, curator at the British Library Sound Archive, and Blowing Up The Workshop founder Matthew Kent.

They have released music from artists such as Nicolas Jaar, De Leon, Diptera and more.

’Mana can be understood as a powerful, often magical, force contained within objects. As these objects get passed from one to another, in a cycle of gifting, they retain the spirit of the giver and propel themselves onto the next recipient, weaving a network of social bonds.’

'Publishing works at the intersection of contemporary and archival sound, Mana is a platform redrawing narrative boundaries and perspectives, through a playful, radical and unexpected approach.
The mix contains some forthcoming music on Mana, unreleased tracks from friends, and recent favourites that have passed through our hands. Subtly influenced by the seismic shifts in weather patterns.'
