Dark lyrics, smoky vocals, and soaring symphonic lines evoke the standstill sensation that occurs before making a life-changing decision. True to the band’s many influences, the single is some parts rock, some parts folk, some parts classical, and all parts nerd-crafted grandeur. As polyrhythmic percussion, synth, and lead guitar take the listener back to the best parts of the 90s, “Get Me” crystalizes Lyle’s musical breadth into a lush, exhilarating sound.

Through dark lyrics, canonic melodies, and driving symphonic lines, 'Believe in the Dark' explores the proverbial light and dark within each of us. The importance each element plays in allowing the other to exist, and the conflict that emerges when balance between the two is undone.

In “Windows,” Lyle cofounder Lana McMullen reflects on rebuilding her world after her dad’s sudden passing when she was 17. The song’s lilting slow build follows the grief lifecycle—from nonsensical inception to denial and anger and finally to acceptance and growth.

'Alpine' explores co-founder Lana McMullen's fight with chronic pain. Their fourth single to date, this track offers a more driven, modern take on a song that Lana originally penned for the acoustic guitar. Lyle's signature violin/cello motifs are once again present and they take shape from beat one with a catchy pizzicato riff, leading into a massive, cinematic arrangement over the chorus.

Believe In The Dark

Lyle is a Seattle-based art-rock band. It began as a collaboration between singer-songwriters Lana McMullen and Arthur James in the spring of 2017. The two wanted to build a project without a frontperson—a collaborative where everyone involved contributes equally, artistically. They added five additional musicians from a myriad of musical backgrounds including metal, jazz-fusion, soul/r&b, and classical.

In the spring of 2018, Lyle ventured into Seattle's historic London Bridge Studio and recorded a five-song EP with producer Eric Lilavois (Atlas Genius, My Chemical Romance, Saint Motel) and engineer Julian Anderson. Their single, "Get Me," was mastered by Ed Brooks (Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, R.E.M.) and will be released October 12, 2018, with the full EP to follow early in 2019.
