If You Stay Awake

The Wake, the upcoming debut album from Lynn Gentry features nine songs, all co-written by Lynn Gentry and Michael Simonelli. The compositions span a 15-year period, with production commencing during the pandemic and concluding in the summer of 2025. "The Wake" will be released under Bourgeois Blues, the music label founded by Lynn Gentry and Michael Simonelli.
 
The album's title is inspired by the interconnectedness of all life. This concept was deeply influenced by the pregnancy of Lynn Gentry's wife, Sarah Vittetoe, who expressed feeling the presence of all the women in her family watching over her during that time. The album's production also coincided with the pregnancy of Michael Simonelli's wife, Marlaina, and was completed with their child present throughout the process. Thematically, "The Wake" explores subjects such as love for humanity, empathy, suicide, the eternal connections of life, women's rights, and various forms of love and connection.
