Phil Weeks and Robsoul Recordings kick off their 15th year in house music with a new three track EP from the main man himself. Live At Palladium has been the standout track of Phil’s sets over the last few months, always generating a queue of people asking what it is. You may just recognize the Marvin Gaye sample, which was also previously “borrowed” by Moodymann. It comes backed with the funk-infused You Want My Love and the soaring, chugging groove of Demain A Jamais, and looks set to get another year off to a flying start for one of the finest labels in underground house music.

David Hasert is back on Dantze. This time he teamed up with his Cologne fellow Matteo Luis. Their main track is useful for refreshing morning hours in the club, like a watermelon. The second original like in the tradition of Mozart, bewigged, white powdered for a serious trip. Additional remixes by Tim Engelhardt and Niju create different tastes for a nice fruit basket.

It was long overdue but we’re excited to finally present you the next episode of the Reels podcast series! Behind the wheels of steel this time is Sebastian Rebig, a true house music lover and proper vinyl junkie who owns more than 9000 records. Sebastian hails from Mönchengladbach (in the famous Ruhr region) and has been playing since 2000 in various locations around Germany. He has caught the ears of many passionate listeners, including Session Victim who have since then invited Sebastian to spin at some of their parties. Thanks to his record selection, deejaying skills and deep knowledge of music, Sebastian Rebig is the perfect example of a „DJ’s DJ“.

Reels 6 is vintage Rebig: a faultless collection of forgotten house classics from Mood II Swing or Black Science Orchestra blended with contemporary heaters from Fresh & Low or Moomin. JEUDI’s selection takes us from the moody Reese basslines of Danito & Athina’s Harmony Baby, to Sean Roman’s contemplative I Find Myself and the spooky depths of Camelphat’s 360, while House Of Disco journey through the skippy funk of Roberto Rodriguez’s North Step, HNNY’s delicate Oma Doris, and the slinky disco of LeSale’s Fit Trucker.

Suited just as well to the home stereo as to the dancefloor, it’s an engrossing compilation that’s got plenty to offer for DJs and casual listeners alike, and looks set to cement both labels incredibly solid reps even further.

I've added some synthetic sounds, and attempted to move it from more of a disco sound (which I love, but needs more variation than what this track has) to house, which suites the repetition of it more, at least I hope it does. Though I am very willing to leave it as it once was if the original 'rough mix' is preferred. Thanks again.

Softwar are 2 body builders from Sydney - Myles Du Chateau & Jeremy Lloyd - and they HAVE FINALLY finished their EP on Future Classic called 'This Time Around'.

As much as we tease Softwar at HOW SLOW THEY ARE they have some pretty serious chops - their debut EP was signed to DJ Kaos' label Jolly Jams, their track ‘Colour Flight’ was hand picked by Kitsune for their Tokyo Mix CD, their residence at Slow Blow at Goodgod, Sydney has got millions of hot fashion girls into deep house AND they've remixed Mario & Vidis and Mitzi – meaning this will be their third appearance on Future Classic vinyl.

When Softwar started sending us demos they often came labeled with odd names like 'keyboard', 'brown noise' or 'good song' - so we had to ask them "What happened to brown noise.mp3 and realgooddemo.wav?"

"We tried to give the songs half decent, suitable names. 'This Time Around' was kinda easy as the lyrics are pretty self explanatory.. 'you got me feeling real good this time around', ‘August’ was made in... Surprise... August! and then ‘Taken Liberty’ was made with honestly no real meaning in mind at all - maybe a reference to some time we spent in New York last year."

'This Time Around' resonates filtery deep funk, soul and house and we're glad it’s finally here and not called brown noise.
