Intentionally left this vocally imperfect. No tuning for a song against the pain of perceived perfectionism.

Was feeling weirdly down and then was reminded suddenly of one of the most bittersweetly uplifting songs I've ever heard. Decided on a whim to write my own English version and sing it in about 2.5 hours. 

Not sure if I feel better after wasting all that time, but still.

Sung by the villain character Rangda, this song is a part of the mantra 'Sandhikala' which consists of 8 verses. The eighth verse Sri Khagapati is the song of aether, allowing Rangda to bend the very fabric of reality.



The lyric is based on Kakawin Bharatayuddha, about the death of Bhisma with hundreds of arrows. Written in the Kawi language, a ceremonial language of ancient Java, Bali, and Lombok. 



Mantradeva is an adventure webcomic in LINE Webtoon with a balinese setting, inspired by its culture and folklore. It's currently only available in Indonesian. An English translation might be possible if enough demand presents itself.



Rangda is the demon queen of the leyaks in Bali, according to traditional Balinese mythology.
