Thievery Corporation have grown very strong roots in the Rivera Maya over the years, but have never had a chance to play a liveshow in the area. DAY ZERO is proud to be presenting the first live show in Playa del Carmen with Thievery Corporation.   

"This is a mix of some of my favorite tripped out, orchestral, brazilian/latin, and cinematic music from the past, way before the current electronic music explosion. There’s many beautiful gems from all corners of the globe, these are the kinds of sounds that inspired Eric and myself when we started Thievery Corporation.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making this mix. We look forward to seeing you in Mexico celebrating our galactic journey;) at Day Zero!

I'm often asked in interviews what my early influences were.
If I could have made a mixtape years ago like the ones I've been making more recently, then it would probably have sounded something like this.
71 tracks in 75 minutes, with mashups of up to 4 or 5 tracks playing at the same time.
Features many legendary artists of the time, from DJ Shadow, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada and Orbital through to Portishead, Luke Vibert, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Shy FX & UK Apachi, Bonobo, 4hero, Adam F, Amon Tobin, Chemical Brothers, Red Snapper and Aquasky - with some Classical, Folk and Choral music, and Moondog, The Beta Band, Donovan, Jive Bunny, Velvet Underground, Herb Alpert and classic jungle thrown in.
Apart from appearances from Brian Eno and Derren Brown, this mixtape doesn't feature interviews and field recordings like the other mixtapes in the annual series, but it does still feature acapellas from J-Live, KRS-One, Common, Roots Manuva, Choclair and more.

The Messy haired DJ who gets your bums wiggling! Grew up on rock, folk, blues, jazz & reggae so a lot of influences then saw 'Scratch' by Doug Pray at Uni and have been mixing up all the music I love ever since and never looked back. 
Mixtapes are a torrid blend of Hip Hop, Breaks, Funk and the latest dancefloor tunes mixed with old skool party tunes, Disney, Nursery Rhymes & Charity Shop gems. 
Took a lot of inspiration from likes of Mr. Scruff, Cut Chemist, Shadow, Yoda & Format but hopefully a bit different cos they don't have diabetic awareness records from Gravesend....
