Once upon a time in a small town in Eastern Europe there was a vibrant and creative underground rave scene.

Being mind-blown and completely immersed in the the rave and techno magic of the early 90’s, a dozen of electronic music worshippers in their early teenage-hood finally managed to equip a studio for shared amusement. Walls from bottom to top covered in The Prodigy posters and rave party flyers, a pile of second hand computers, live PA speakers gathered from hear and there, and a second hand Moog synth with one functional and one broken oscillator. Harbouring and harnessing local talent to invent the next night's auricular challenge.

This archival release contains selected dance floor knock-outs from the collective who founded and ran an entire electronic music culture in North-Western Bulgaria between 1997 and the late 2000s. These sounds leave their local hideouts for the first time!

Presenting another [-M-E-L-M-A-K-] release sourced, compiled, assembled, printed, etc. by booking & supporting mostly local businesses as well as local artists. They were involved in the music, concept, design, artwork realisation, etc. to support local communities in their specific cultural and daily lives with the goal of giving a gasp of breath to different, colourful and creative personalities and places outside of the big city centers in the EU.

Life is a set of moments, when luck & wellbeing smile at you. This is the sought emotional feeling of being blessed. But then suddenly times of deep sorrows might hit you as a head-on train collision... and you suffer ... so deeply that life seems to literally slow down. And the eternal moment of now thickens as if you have to fight your way through liquid concrete.

Take a charter flight to another facet of life on planet [-M-E-L-M-A-K-] experiencing auricular tales of four peculiar destinations. The tempo & the vibe is heavily imposed by the summer heatwaves scorching our secret hide-out on planet Earth, situated "east from Paradise".

The local carrier-of-choice to take you on this dreamy, spacey but yet mellow & groovy flight is none other but “Charter Murphy”. He is personally & compassionately telling us about the sorrows and the joy of many people who inspired his creativity, forged his way of thinking and helped him form the vision of life he now has.

Once upon a time on planet [-M-E-L-M-A-K-] two teenagers visiting their grand parents at their village compound were blissfully sleeping late in the morning when a LOUD BANG!!! made them jump off their beds.

The bewilderment quickly grew into confusion of how was this possible and then into respect. It appeared to be a soviet era polish made vacuum tube TV set thrown out the window of the 2nd floor of the house. Grandfather was doing the spring cleaning of the house, obviously, the Balkan way - almost meeting the criteria to qualify for Valhalla!

The old cathode ray tube usually being under pressure as a technology were famous to make a loud violent and deeply sounding burst when broken that it reminded us a heavy drum machine and the almost perfect and most brutal and deep and powerful bass drum we have ever heard.

So, us... being techno freaks by that time and fascinated by the idea of techno music inspired and recreating the heavy industry and machinery in an auricular way - we took a field recorder, found another old TV set of the make and.... threw it out the window... while recording all the sounds coming out of the impact :)

Later dissected and re-looped and re-worked through sampling here's a record that's been years overdue in the making.

H2o - EXCEED EP - A1. EXCEED

[-M-E-L-M-A-K-] is a psychedelic and techno experimental music label set up for the first time around 2000 in North-Western Bulgaria. In the last years the label is becoming operational again but based in Kyustendil, Bulgaria, soaking dub-techno inspiration from the Osogovo and Lisets mountain ranges.

A bunch of electronic fans in our early teenage-hood, we just have massively discovered rave, techno, psychedelic/goa trance and downtempo alchemy. During the years we formed a small creative group identifying itself as the purely electronic fan club - The Luk-O-weed Crew or G.T.N.D. Mob.
