Brazilian producer and DJ Nicolau Marinho steps into summer with a new release on Smash Deep, titled ‘In Monako’. Known for his distinctive underground approach to house music, Nicolau continues to explore the world between classic influences and modern production with this funky-house-driven track.

‘In Monako’ draws on Marinho’s signature formula - placing well-known hip hop samples at the core of the groove. Strings weave through a punchy, rolling beat, while tight percussion and bass push the track forward. It’s a sharp production that builds around contrasts. The result is a track that feels playful while staying true to his stripped-back house aesthetic.

Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Nicolau Marinho has been shaping his sound since launching his solo project in 2013. His releases on respected labels such as Hellbent and Music is 4 Lovers have earned him recognition across the house circuit, while performances at major Brazilian festivals - including Universo Paralello, Soulvision, and Samsara - have solidified his presence behind the decks. Alongside producing, he’s also committed to music education, sharing his knowledge through masterclasses and offering tools like his Tech House Sample Pack to emerging producers.

As producer, DJ, label head and booking agency owner his modern house and techhouse-style clearly owes to the Frankfurt heritage, yet M.in never claimed that promotional tag. He’s sitting firmly in the driver’s seat when it comes to his very own style. You can easily dub his beats trademark, bowing to the craftsmanship M.in has developed and refined with his dozens of releases. 

His artist name playfully quotes the minimalism that ruled for long time in German electronics. In fact, M.ins tracks are far from minimal. The only minimal formulae is his credo demanding “the groove to carry the whole track from the core”. From there on, anything can happen! And M.in is known to churn out tracks that conquer hearts and souls with various ingredients: groove, swing, bite, humour and musicality.  „Every track has to have a vibe first““, he says. Well, easy to sign that partition... yet hard to accomplish the task M.in so easily masters. 

M.in’s tracks flow organic and uplifting. With influences from Afrobeat, Latin or his beloved swinging jazz, teaming up with that straight draw of a mighty lowered kick drum and bass.
