In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For nearly one half of a century, countless artists and professionals across the globe have benefited from utilizing the oblique strategies technique when attempting to overcome a lull in creative output.

In early 2021, idiot basement podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential themes of their upcoming fifteenth episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they knew the alphabet pretty good. They started with the letter A.

What a year, right? 2020 proved to be the year the world broke, no question about that. However, great records were produced and must be analyzed, recognized, and celebrated. Exactly what were the top album releases in this year of despair? Jay and Deon each discuss their choices for top eleven (like Spinal Tap, they always take it to 11) albums of the yiz-ear in episode 12 of Lightnin’ Licks Radio, the annual Year In Review sonic sextravaganza. Music geeks UNITE…it’s another “best of” list to piss and moan about. Rock and rolla smoke a bowla.
