Ephemeral Horror

Acheron is the name of the planet that Ripley and her crew descended onto in the original 1979 film, Alien. The score to that film was written by Jerry Goldsmith and featured many eccentric instruments as well as extended techniques used on the percussion. This piece is in three sections: The Orbit, The Atmosphere, and The Surface. Though each section is different musically, they are all tied together with the bass drum acting as Acheron's life source or "heartbeat." Acheron's Song is my imaginative descent onto the Alien planet that was made famous in 1979.

This was performed by Christopher Harris on 11-20-2014 during the Sonoma State University Percussion Ensemble Concert.
