Following their four year hiatus from live performance, Robbie Abbott and Owen Mellett return as the live looping atmospheric duo, MONGJA merging their interpretation of ambient jazzrock to create their wide-spaced improvisational sound.

MONGJA is the newest project of musicians and long-time mates Robbie and Owen. Involved together in several musical groups, the duo now are pushing their musical abilities to still create a full band as themselves following the long break. Within this time the band achieved qualifications in music technology and worked greatly within live sound to strengthen skills and network. This time, as well as the 2020 lockdown, is what restarted MONGJA and lead to the duo self-recording, mixing, and mastering their debut album LAIKI, to be released soon. The band is greatly influenced by the artists - Foals, Elder Island, King Krule, Syd Arthur, Kikagaku Moyo, Yussef Kamaal, Zoo for you, and many more.

Joining forces with drummer, Ryan Hosier, in late summer the trio continues to work on new material to be released in 2021, hopefully alongside the return of live music!
