Who else sounds like Larry Heard? In the late 1980s, The Chicago house producer was one of the first artists – initially as a part of Fingers, Inc., and then as a solo act – to truly stamp their own unique aesthetic onto the nascent style of electronic dance music. Favouring lush instrumentation, foggy chords and dreamy melodies over the more mechanic pounding of many of his counterparts, he inspired the "deeper" sounds of the midwest's second wave, and generations of young clubbers elsewhere around the world.

“A very special thanks to the Honcho crew for this year’s Campout and for letting me share this set. This was the 4th Honcho Campout I attended and I can’t count the number of times a DJ or artist has made me lose it in the best way at Hemlock Hole. So getting a chance to play a daytime set there was really exciting but daunting. I played this set on day 314 of the genocide in Palestine. As a Palestinian in this current moment, trying to find a voice or create moods in music has felt beyond heavy. Is this a time for moments of joy? For dancing? What does it look like to participate in a dance floor when the world in this moment seems utterly unjust? 

I honestly wasn’t quite sure how to tackle this set. So after a lot of overthinking, I stepped back and poured over nearly all of my records over the course of 5 months. I picked ones that have kept me going this past year, many of which I had never played out before. These records, I hope, highlight the beauty of dance music, the resistance heard in the especially black, brown and queer artists who shape this music, and the importance of participating in a space that feels urgent and irrevocable to the queer community. As I played this set, I wore the words of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, who reminds us: “And we love life if we find a way to it. We dance between the martyrs and raise a minaret for violet and palm trees.” Free Palestine.”

Joan Granite (she/her) serves up a energetic, playful mix, a perfect antidote to these cold, dreary months. Her aesthetic and ethos are noticeable in all aspects of her work and as a DJ she manages to capture a spectrum of sound that is very “now” but is also timeless. Her online radio presence is super strong, with a personal favorite “a good trip in my mind” on Radio Sofa ✨

Fatale Furylax is a multidisciplinary artist from the South of France, currently based in Paris. Artistic director, DJ, resident of Radio Sofa, co-coordinator and resident of the web radio Station and member of the collective & label De la...je l’espère, she develops a hybrid aesthetic nourished by her multiple artistic explorations. Her sets explore a wide musical spectrum, from ambient to bass music, fusing dubstep, breakbeat, drum & bass, deeptechno, jungle and more experimental sounds.

First hour is by our guest and second hour by me where I attempt to showcase a non linear storyline through ambient,downtempo, halftime and experimental sounds. ✨
