After an impressive string of releases on Sinchi, NEIN, Mélopée, Weirdos among others, Munich-based vagabond Alemao drops his luggage for the first time on HIFI/LOFI, with an EP highlighting the variety of his skills and influences, ranging between psychedelic and heady Deep Indie Dance to overdriven Techno-Disco synth escapades, and beautifully closed by a remix from the master of cosmic explorations, el grande Rigopolar.

Having lived in Berlin, Paris, Hamburg & Barcelona among other cities, Alemao has been soaking up music in Europe’s most renowned house & techno clubs for more than a decade. He started gracing the face of the world with vibrating air molecules in Dublin in 2016 where he has not only earned his nickname ‘Alemao’ but also played regularly at Pygmalion, sharing bills with the likes of Âme, Jennifer Cardini or The Drifter.

Written & produced shortly after his daughter saw the light of day, the collection of tunes opens with Akyre, where Alemao takes us in a rather dark and stomping Italo territory, accompanied by a haunting voice (which is actually one of the most used vocal samples in history, but we’ll leave the mystery hanging there). 

On Spatzi, Alemao unfolds a headier side of his sound, where dizzying synth sequences flirt with overdriven guitar-like synths, before closing the round of originals with the eponymous ‘Paranoid Disco Dub’ - as the name suggests, a more experimental cut with references to Deep Dub-Techno & Psychedelia, where one could easily get lost dancing together with his own mind in the deep shadows of a dark and sweaty club.

Last but not least, Rigopolar also makes his first appearance on HIFI/LOFI by delivering a sublime and very filmic revision of Akyre, which makes us want to ask the universe if we could please have a combined sequel of Drive and Stranger Things coming out soon itohave his remix landing on the ending credits, someone please make it happen.

Sitting alongside fellow subdivisions 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, Future Avenue looks to provide a home for new and rising talent. With an ethos centred around progressive music and its surrounding derivatives, the label is a platform which gives up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music alongside established veterans as they carve out their own musical identity.

HOSH's fryhide label continues to carve out its own special niche in the underground world with a new EP from Simao. It features four original tracks that suggest this exciting artist is all set to blow up.

Simao hails from Lisbon but lives in London and is a well travelled DJ who is adaptable to any setting, from squats to vast outdoor raves to warehouses and intimate basements. He runs his own night Imperialism and is inspired by nature as well as DJs like Rodhad. Working subtle sounds and deep emotions into his sets, this EP proves Simao is a mindful artist with a considered and cerebral sound.

Foutayne Road is first and is seven suburb minutes of mindful and moody house. The synths roam and meander with a sombre air of their own as rubbery beats roll below. It's a patient track but one that makes a lasting impact once it gets under your skin.

Hale Pale is busier, with silky synths riding up and down the scale as sci-fi effects and smeared chords flesh out the already supple drums and bass. It's one that takes you deep into the night with a real sense of melodic colour.

Root then keeps you on edge with its nervy chords dangling above darker drums. It's suspenseful and the sort of track to really get you in a trance with its grand visions. Last of all is The Fridge, another masterfully melodic tune that is dreamy and zoned out, layered with lush chords and gentle thundering claps that bring a sense of narrative.

This is an exquisite EP stuffed with emotion and one that proves Simao is a master of melody.

M7W (Matthew) is an electronic music artist whose journey has been deeply rooted in sound since childhood when he  began his creative path with classical guitar first, and then bass guitar. This early exposure to harmony and structure laid the foundation for a rich and eclectic musical sensibility, nurturing his versatility and sharpened his instincts as a performer.

As teenager, electronic music entered his world. First drawn in by the energy of Italian Dance music and the underground sounds of Minimal and Techno. Between 2008 and 2010, a deeper and true love for Trance music began to take hold in M7W's life, guided by the genre's soaring melodies, emotional depth, and powerful energy. It is during this phase of his life that M7W started not only to experience electronic music, but to create it.

Toward the end of the 2010s, his musical taste began to shift once again, gravitating toward the emotionally charged and atmospheric sounds of Melodic Techno. 

Now based in Barcelona, he continues to evolve. His sounds are a reflection of a musician who finds beauty in emotion, tension, and atmosphere. His music isn’t bound by genre — it’s defined by feelings.  More than anything, is what sets him apart.
