Knife presenta Maedon, DJ y productora nacida en New York con sede en Berlín.
Su album debut y algunos tracks fueron lanzados en el legendario sello Sonic Groove de Adam X ,próximamente saldrá un track en un V.A para Deviate.

“Esta mezcla es la primera que preparo en un año y medio. Han pasado muchas cosas en este tiempo, como todos sabemos. Comienza con una pista muy esperanzadora y abarca un rango dinámico de sonidos que expresan todas las emociones que he sentido durante este último año y medio.

Estoy emocionada de compartir una pista inédita de Crystal Geometry titulada Utopia; saldrá a finales de este año en Sonic Groove. También incluí una pista mía inédita que envié para una compilación de Deviate; estará disponible este verano.

En cuanto al proceso, esta es literalmente la primera mezcla que he elaborado con la que fui extremadamente meticulosa, también es la primera mezcla que preparé con Ableton Live. Los pocos podcasts que hice anteriormente se grabaron en Rekordbox usando un controlador Pioneer simple. Comencé a usar Live hace unos dos meses, por lo que armar esta mezcla realmente me ayudó a aprenderlo aún más ".

Knife presents Maedon, a New York-born DJ and producer based in Berlin.
Her debut album and some tracks were released on Adam X's legendary Sonic Groove label, a track will be out on a V.A for Deviate soon.

“This mix is the first mix I’ve put together in a year and a half. Much has happened in this time, as we all know. It starts out with a very hopeful track and it spans a dynamic range of sounds expressing all the emotions I have felt throughout this past year and half.

I’m excited to share an unreleased track from Crystal Geometry titled Utopia; it will be out later this year on Sonic Groove. I’ve also included an unreleased track of mine that I submitted for a Deviate compilation; it will be available this summer. 

As for the process, this is literally the first mix i’ve ever put together that I was extremely meticulous with, it is also the first mix that I put together using Abelton Live. The few podcasts I have done previously were recorded in Rekordbox using a simple Pioneer controller. I started using Live about two months ago, so putting this mix together has really helped me learn it even deeper".

Maedon’s sound is dark, heavy and exciting, a unique hybrid of industrial techno and EBM with a touch of rave. She is driven by a fierce, relentless passion for the music.
A wizard in the studio, Maedon is known for her all-gear live sets, which are must-see events where dance floors become mesmerized by the collage of irresistible electronics and pounding grooves. Her background was in the industrial scene, and these influences are absorbed into her sound.

Since her arrival in Europe, she has settled in smoothly, with a flurry of releases that include a track for the Belgium label Deviate, and also some remix work, appearing on Berlin labels Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, Dream Baby Dream and the Brooklyn boutique label Synthicide. 

Her new dark and futuristic album is now out on Sonic Groove (@sonic-groove-records): Maedon crafts some very melodic jams, with refreshing song structure and storytelling trips achieved through excellent sample work and programming prowress. Make no mistake, this is fghting music. It's blazing hard, with grueling energy, and a fair for the dramatic. Maedon likes relevant content, as tracks like “Rave-Act Never Forget” expose pathetic pledges from poser politicians who have dared to protest against the dance music scene in their past. You have been exposed Biden. The madness continues with the menacing “Destroyer of Worlds”, a massive rave jam with otherworldly synths based around the words of a certain man’s famously guilty post-atomic quote from the Hindu scripture known as the Bhagavad Gita. It's a reminder of your sins, Oppenheimer.
The selection continues to concoct clever experiments with pressure and feels at times like riding a roller coaster thru outer space “Destroy the Status Quo” with subtly pitch-shifting metallic highs and ravey tone-work captivates the mind as gravity drops jerk the body into uncontrollable motion. “Rudersdorf Trip” is a sick adventure into the darkness, with whispered vocals ‘this is what you want this what you need’ leading the charge of hypnotic, spiraling acid. “Childhood dreams” is an excellent ending to the LP, an innovative melodic charmer with nostalgic future vibes pumped up by a broken techno beat.
In truth, all the tracks stand out; a solid efort from start to fnish. It serves as a lesson in production for her peers. She enjoys the process, creating a chance for all to dance away their pain. For Maedon, our ears are like trophies to collect. no one is safe.

He’s also the founder of the “Jezgro Label” and “Ontal Series”, and he recently released his debut album “Above The Concrete” on the pioneering German label “HANDS” – which has been active since 1990. Katran is the main solo project of Darko Kolar, who is also one half of the Ontal. He is also part of Impuls Controls (a project of Ontal and Blush Response). Darko Kolar is also the founder of Jezgro label and Ontal Series.

Darko's musical career started in 2005, under the "Dekode" moniker. He passionately started to collect records and slowly to produce music. Soon enough he started to release music on different labels alongside names such as Si Begg, Radioactiveman, Sillicon Scally, Scape One, to name a few. Even until today he plays some of that old Electro, Breakbeat, IDM stuff that may be "forgotten".

The year of 2011. was one of the most important years in his musical career. Ever since forming Ontal, his musical career advanced. With Ontal being recognized amongst leading industrial Techno/Experimental names on the world scene, Darko has developed a new way of expressing himself through Katran project. He puts all of his creative force and energy into his music, so the stuff that he creates as Katran is dark, rough and intensive, always in a constant change.

In 2016 Darko launched a label called Jezgro. The first release was by MRTVI, on of the Huren's pseudonym and with additional remix by Violet Poison. The second release came out in 2017, created by the master of noise music - Merzbow. The main focus of the label is to represent more obscure, dark and unstructured parts of the electronic music. Crucial aesthetical core of the label are genres such as harsh noise, industrial Techno, drone, off beat Techno, rhythmic noise, Ambient and similar styles.

Crystal Geometry is the latest project from underground electronic music veteran, Maxime Fabre. Inspired by Post-Punk, Black Metal and Industrial, the French producer and live artist has returned to his roots, a crossover between the warehouse rave scene of the 90’s and industrial music, mixing EBM influences with hardcore Techno.
Centered around an ever-growing modular system, the project is based upon live improvisation with dedicated hardware, relentless hard beats and haunting soundscapes. Recognition of the project’s output has continued to penetrate the underground circuit, with a growing catalogue of high-impact productions, released across a number of labels; SARIN’s, X-IMG, Parisian imprint RND. Records, Spain’s Darkwave synth driven, Oraculo Records, Marseille-based Caisson Gauche and a debut album on Berlin-based Noise and Industrial label, AREA Z.

Struggle often creates art, and for Maeghan Donovan, the artist known as Maedon, this certainly rings true. Splitting her time between grimy Baltimore and filthy Philly while learning the craft, her 2018 arrival in NYC confirmed her emergence into the scene, pushed along by a partnership with Brooklyn/Berlin techno powerhouse Sonic Groove and its head Adam X. A longtime student of industrial and wave music, it was this combined with the tough techno pioneered by this NYC institution that brought her to new breakthroughs and an international audience.
 
Three years later Maeghan forges ahead to the next phase of her career on the heels of a well-received collaborative full-length with Adam X as Maedon-X and a freshly minted residency, both courtesy of the legendary Tresor. Confirming her voice with finessed production and raw, autobiographical and political content, she launched her Rant & Rave imprint in 2023 seeking to platform female artists alongside established and new voices in artistic techno and industrial music. Assuring her future as the world falls apart, Maedon’s bracing sound and undeniable skills are a story now unfolding, with its beginnings already written in grit.
