Tried to remix this track a couple times before and always ended up scrapping it. The original is such a classic and recognisable song so it's a bit of a tough one to work with. Always liked the vocals especially the 'slow down' hook, think it sounds pretty good over this beat. This isn't the same sample they used at all, but it does kind of sound like a slowed down version of that melody in a way. The 16 note hi hats were key for me with this one, for a while the beat only had 8th note hats, adding the 16 note hats gave it a lot more energy. Pitched it up mid way through too match Grand Pubas vocals better.

OG version is a crazy gem produced by Nick Wiz. If you're a proper fiend for 90s hip hop you've got to check his Cellar Sounds compilations. There's like 4 volumes and over 100 tracks across them all, mad dope rare underground gems from the 90s. Defo one of the most underrated producers from that era, his style is crazy. This has always been one of my favourites - I'm not even 100% about this remix but I want to release it so I can stop mixing it. Been siting on this beat for a long time now and tried a lot of different acapellas over it, I think this one flows well especially the hook.
