FUMU is a member of the Return to Zero production/DJ crew with Turinn and Sockethead and follows his 2018’s ‘Sinuate’ debut with an aggy album of percussive wreckers and abrasive x beautiful industrial soundscapes compiled from his archives (a new album proper will follow soonish) and originally recorded around 2015-2018 at 'the tube’, the studio he shared with Turinn. It revolves around a classic interplay of light x dark themes crafted thru panel-beaten rhythms and sore electronics that are brusque and brutalist by design but not without an attentive pathos, where decaying, weathered textures and restless rhythmic variations coalesce in uncomfortable harmony.

Cold, skull-scraping noise and voices from beyond introduce the LP on ‘Nu,’ before the brooding tribute ‘4 Mika’ lures us into the album’s instrumental narrative. Through jump-cuts, black-out fades and picnoleptic edits the album unfurls its secrets thru the bruised bumps of ‘Inna Tough’ and sci-fi electro scud of ‘Unlmtd Potential,’ twysting up mutant hardcore techno on ‘Its All Steel’ and belly-quaking power electronics on ‘Cloud Head,’ with ruthless yardcore noise in ’Skhs Pt 11’ giving way to a heart-swallowing closing sequence of ‘Bye’ via the gnawed new wave machine funk of ‘Recordingtapes’, and the shutdown masterstroke of curdled arps and plangent pads in ‘Extra 10.’

Milan-based producer and multimedia artist Bladeblanc contributes to Early Reflex’s second birthday compilation Flex003 with a mutant bass club tool. 

Early Reflex is the Turin-based label run by Alec Pace. Over the last two years, the label has championed emerging artists from across the globe who are very much leaning within that experimental, club music realm. These artists include Sobolik, Lorica, Ikävä Pii, B E N N and more. Flex003 is a clear embodiment of the label’s ethos as Bladebanc is joined by Alec Pace himself as well as Hassan Abou Alam, Dies, AYLN, Honeydrip and more.

For the 40th release on All Centre, label co-head Simkin provides three new cuts on his second record of the year, Entity.

Beatless ambient opener Sinks In eases us in with whirring field recordings, glitched choral vocals and sublime pads, immediately setting the atmosphere for the record. Throughout, later elements of the EP are teased amongst disorentating sound design and soaring chords. 

The end of the track leads directly into low-tempo stormer Entity. Alien-sounding vocals give way to a heavy, low-slung drum pattern before a dubbed-out transition introduces the track’s bone-rattling bassline. Later, the arrangement eventually breaks back down amongst glitchy arpeggiated synths, before further ramping up the intensity with the reintroduction of booming subs, punctuated by a rising air raid siren.

Finally, Click! lifts the tempo, landing in an upbeat, electro-inspired groove. Short snippets of vocals are teased amongst understated pads before a low, gliding bassline propels us forward. Angelic, autotuned vocals and chopped and rearranged amongst echoing chords and soaring lead synths, the elements weaving amongst each other as the track progresses. 

Entity is available across all platforms on the 5th of August.
