Al-Majrouda reached Gaza about a year ago, despite the siege. It infiltrated with smugglers between Sinai and Gaza, along with bags of flour and smuggled medicines, and followed a journey that began in Libya years ago, to witness the peak of its popularity in Palestine in recent months - This playlist is from an article written and prepared by Nour Ezzedine and Shabjdeed. The debut album „Silicate Squeak“ by @lukasoppenheimer as Windowseeker, releasing December 3rd via Infinite Drift, propagates through imagined realms of silicate.

Hardly anything found in nature is as ordered as crystal lattices that inform the special qualities these substances have. Their periodic structure lends itself to a sense of stability and harmony, whereas matter such as water, finds itself in complete chaos, noise or randomness.
Ignoring any boundaries between order in physical matter and order in sound and combining this intuition with generative musical processes, „Silicate Squeak“ walks the line between headphone and club music.

Cheb Terro vs DJ Die Soon features Cheb Terro’s posthumous vocals on Die Soon’s beats; a work that was finished one day before Terro’s tragic passing. Starting somewhere in the last quarter of 2020, having approached Daisuke Imamura aka DJ Die Soon for a release, and just heard about Cheb Terro’s work with his Toxic Club, Drowned By Locals made the hook up that would result in a match made in the Underplanet, as Terro would describe it.

Hailing from the city of Sousse in Tunisia, the site of the worst of several Jihadist attacks in recent years, Cheb Terro’s writings and delivery embody the violence stemming from the frustration shared by Tunisia’s new generation; and reflect sadness, rebellion and an obsession with death.

On WAX (GEN049), KLAHRK & KAVARI pair up to present a basket of hammering, blasting club tracks with a focus on radical digital sound manipulations. The duo presents a sound design show-off consisting of raspy stretch algorithm artifacts, vocoded pulses and slimy granular flurries. Rhythmically, high impact overdriven kicks and syncopated motifs give the tracks a high energy urgency and momentum. Simmering, crusty chopped up break beats accompany stroboscopic pads, glistening metallic percussion and sweeping electro-acoustic gestures. Maneuvering naturally between almost snapping, bursting, fragmenting passages, effervescent glistening chords sometimes emerge, ready to get whacked by mangled, contorted drum machine outbursts.

The neon-lit allure of Miami at night is an aesthetic hard-coded into frazzled eye sockets, whether you grew up enthralled by Tony Montana’s rise to power or fell into the ultra-violent fantasy of GTA. Something about the clamouring Florida heat drives people to excess, whether they’re players in a fiction or real-lifers living like movie stars. It’s a visceral aesthetic which enchants the world over — just one lurid notch in the bedpost of American cultural colonialism — and it shows up the sullied reality of ‘the dream’ even in the dimmest of lighting.

Brodinski didn’t have to soak up this pervasive inspiration vicariously through mixed media — bedded into Miami for a summer, he wrote The Sinkhole while contemplating the knotty character of this art deco wonderland once the sun goes down. The French producer has lived many lives in many places throughout his career, touching on chart-baiting electro and late 00s techno as a breakout superstar in the superclub era. Evil World saw him working with a heavyweight cast of rappers and more recently he’s linked up with the likes of Louisahhh and Low Jack to indulge a more gutter-dwelling flip on his upfront,
flamboyant strain of haute-club-couture.

The Sinkhole evokes broad, palm-lined boulevards cast in the moon’s milky glow in every haunting pad — a seductive siren song calling out over Biscayne Bay. But threat is never far away, spelt out in every bludgeoning, bloated slap of bass, in every quivering string line cast in a minor chord, in the needlepoint detail slithering and shivering around the rhythm section. Without resorting to the lowest common denominator of speed, Brodinski finds his own way to spell out tension, directing a bewitching set piece that beguiles as it ensnares, promising you the depraved but oh-so elegant thrill ride your heart so deeply, ashamedly desires.

Digit0nica and Tufi embarked on a collaborative journey a year ago, exchanging sounds throughout the web. Their partnership resulted in a mesmerizing EP, weaving threads of connection through the storm. This vibrant collaboration traverses unseen dimensions, defying classification.

Digit0nica is an audiovisual artist, sound designer, singer, and electronic composer, based somewhere on the internet. Having worked in the past with a variety of genres, at the moment is engaged in post-electronics, post-internet, post-club, meta-punk, deconstructed music with an interweaving of academic and pop tradition and a lot of voice manipulation like alien processing. The music has a psychedelic and surrealistic tone, like a living voice coming from the digital environment. Hosts her own show "Lunar Prism '' on Ola radio. Published on such labels as Postworld, Hyperboloid, Mutants1000000, Internetghetto, Infinito Audio, Hyperlink, Exiles and more.

Argentinian DJ/producer and sound engineer based in Berlin.
Tufi's artistic output acknowledges the diversity of different musical genres and converges them through wild and experimental productions and DJ sets. While exploring the eclectic, deviant and niche subgenres of electronic music, Tufi likes to relentlessly hop between styles to enchant listeners with hard-hitting breakbeats on one hand and blissful sonic sensations on the other.

كان من البديهي أن تُمنع أغاني الشيخ إمام وأحمد فؤاد نجم من الإذاعة، وأن تتم محاربتهما من قبل نظام جمال عبد الناصر وأنور السّادات، إضافة إلى مشاكستهما التي طالت أيقونةً مثل أم كلثوم. في هذه الأغنية، يهاجم الثنائيّ العضويّ نظام "الضبّاط الأحرار"، الذي أتى بعبد الناصر إلى الحُكم، على هزيمة حرب سنة 1967، وأم كلثوم التي حاربتهما بعد أن سجّل أحمد فؤاد نجم قصيدة "كلب الستّ" المشهورة، بعد أن عقر كلب "سومة" طفلاً فقيراً مرّ بالصدفة من قصرها.

من المعروف عن عمر بن ربيعة أنه تمنى أن يكون موسم الحج دائماً "ليت ذا الدهر كان حتما علينا كل يومين حجة واعتمارا" وهذا لم يكن حباً بالدين. في موسم الحج كان الشاعر القرشي يرى جميع أنواع الفنون والتجارة، وكان أيضاً يرى فيه نساءً من شتى أنحاء المنطقة. هذه الأغنية ترسم لنا مشهداً جميلاً لشاب يقع في أسر فتاة جميلة محرمة تطوف في مكة. الشاب لا يتمالك نفسه ولا هي تبالغ في التمنع، ويبدأ الاثنان بالغزل. غزل جميل محرم. منع بث هذه الأغنية على الراديو، ونُفي طلال مداح من السعودية إلى مصر بسبب غنائها علناً. أداء فوزي محسون للأغنية مُقل بحيث يرسم لنا المشهد ببراعة، ويعززه الإيقاع البسيط الذي يجلب للمخيلة صورة مكة في أيام عمر بن ربيعة.

في العام 1996، صدر قرار للأمم المتحدة يقضي بتفعيل الحظر الجويّ فوق ليبيا، نتيجةً لرفض النظام السابق بتسلم المتّهمين في "قضيّة لوكربي". وعندما حلّ موسم الحجّ، رفضت السعوديّة استقبال الطائرات الليبيّة التي تقلَ حجّاجاً مباشرة من ليبيا، حتى سمح لاحقاً للحجّاج بالسفر برّاً إلى القاهرة، لاستقلال طائرات الخطوط المصريّة فقط.

إثر هذه الحادثة، كتب الشّاعر الليبيّ علي الكيلاني قصيدة طويلة بعنوان "مين يجرى (يجرؤ) يقول"، نقل فيها ملحميّة قذّافيّة طال انتقادها الحكّام العرب على تخاذلهم تجاه العروبيّة وفلسطين. وقامت التونسيّة ذكرى بغناء مقطع من القصيدة موجّهة إلى ملك السعوديّة، وفلسطين. بعد وفاة ذكرى (2003)، استقدم علي الكيلاني الأردنيّة أمل الشبلي لغناء مقطع جديد من القصيدة كتبه بعد إعدام الرئيس السابق صدّام حسين (2006). 

وإثر ثورة 17 فبراير 2011، بقي الكيلانيّ وفيّاً لنظام القذّافي، لينتج أغنية جديدة تندّد بغزو قوّات الناتو، وتواطؤ الحكّام العرب- مرة أخرى.

التعليق الوحيد، ربّما، على هذه النسخة، أنّها اخترقت كل الأعراف، وانتقدت مباشرةً نظاماً عميلاً يحمي نفسه بغطاء دينيّ. إلّا أن الوجه الآخر من التعليق يكشف أن سلسلة الأغاني أنتجت بتحريض من نظام قمعيّ تجهيليّ يحمي نفسه بغطاء عروبيّ.

هذه الطقطوقة كانت في بدايات رحلة أم كلثوم وكانت متماشية مع أغاني "الهنك والرنك" التي درجت آن ذاك والتي كان فيها شيء من اللوعة الجنسية والميوعة التي لاءمت حفلات الخديوي اسماعيل الشهيرة. أثارت الأغنية ضجة كبيرة جعلت المعنيين بمستقبل أم كلثوم الفني في ذلك الحين بإقناعها بضرورة سحب الاسطوانة. اعترضت شركة التسجيل على ذلك وكان الحل أن الأغنية أعيد تسجيلها لتقول "أنا اللطافة والخفة مذهبي"، وكان أداؤها باهتاً وتلقيها ضعيفاً مقارنة بالأصل.

If you’re not that into House and Techno, neither are you into partying for partying’s sake then Cairo can be quite boring. That’s why Rama and ZULI decided to start irsh; an excuse for them to hang out with their friends and play music, masquerading as a video series of live music and DJ sets.

When the Corona virus hit and brought social interaction (and hence the series) to a halt, Rama and ZULI thought it would be a good idea to collect tracks from everyone who has played irsh so far into a compilation to serve as a snapshot of what everyone’s currently up to, but to also showcase the richness of talent in their circle of friends and affiliates. Provided the loose and casual nature of irsh, a handful of artists who are yet to feature in the series were also asked to partake in this compilation, which feels like the first of many more to come.

Following the devastating explosion at the Port of Beirut on August 4, Ma3azef teamed up with New York-based mastering engineer Heba Kadry to curate a compilation by regional and international musicians to raise funds for the continuous relief work being done on the ground in Beirut to help those who have been failed by the Lebanese state.

Today, we're happy to announce two additional remixes to be added to the compilation: ZULI's Kiwii, remixed by El Kontessa; Deena Abdelwahed's Wein El Malayeen, remixed  by Ancient Methods.

The 19-track compilation includes contributions by the likes of Fatima Al Qadiri, Nicolás Jaar, ZULI, Slikback, and others. Bringing sounds together from the different crevices of electronic music, it is a humble attempt to galvanize musicians and listeners into supporting a city that has been integral in shaping the region’s contemporary music scene.

All proceeds from the sales of the compilation are going to local initiatives to provide assistance to those affected, they will be divided between Fundraising Campaign for the Arts and Culture Community in Beirut organized by AFAC; Beirut Musicians' Fund organized by Tunefork Studios, and Beit el Baraka.
