A field recording for my River Isar Sound Map. Two LOM Geofons, attached to the railings of the Maxwehr hydroelectric plant in the centre of town, are recording the deep sounds of the river flowing over the barrier and the mechanical sounds of the power station.

How Technofacism is Rooted in Silicon Valley / Becca Lewis

This is a recording of a reef. I used an Ambient ASF MKII hydrophone plugged into a Zoom F3 recorder. I´ve mixed three tracks to try and give it some depth - 1 front, two left and right, a little bit behind. The sound of shrimps snapping away and the occasional base burble and scratching sounds make for a lively reef.

This is a recording of a wood ant / Waldameisen nest about 60 meters away from a wind turbine. I placed two LOM Geofones contact microphones and spikes just into the nest. Every so often the sound of the turbine cutting in can be heard as a bass rumble. I´ve kept it in because maybe the ants feel the vibrations and it´s also a "sound of place" recording. They were very active  in this warm spring afternoon.

I was tracking down a singing mole cricket in the field. It was already too dark to actually see anything so I just followed its song. It is really tricky to estimate the distance from the song. The difference between where I initially thought the singing mole cricket was located and where I eventually found it was approximately 30 meters.

A ground recording using a LOM Geofon with a spike extension. It's one of the most lively recordings I've made. There´s a repeated deep buzzing which sounds like a wild bee, but I´m really not sure what it is.
