Maaike is a singer/songwriter from The Netherlands. Her music is influenced by jazz, pop and soul. She studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, US and jazz piano at The Prince Clause Conservatory in Groningen, NL 


With a Classical education starting at an early age of 7, playing pieces by JS Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and other composers on the recorder, Maaike has found her love for music. When she was around 14 years old, she started to play piano and guitar. Involved with several different groups she has performed and written songs. In a pop/soul/RnB duo she has performed at many places in her home country The Netherlands, and traveled to perform in London and Spain.

When she got more into the piano, Maaike went to study Jazz at the Prince Claus Conservatory in her hometown Groningen, The Netherlands. Meanwhile when she was studying jazz piano and vocals, she kept being driven writing her own material and with performing. Maaike was part of the group Soulpark existing of talented musicians from the conservatory. They did recordings and performances with Maaike’s songs. Her songs are influenced by jazz harmonies and funky rhythms.
She is known for always singing from the heart and with a simple but strong melodic sense she creates her own sound. Some of her big inspirations are Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, John Mayer, Joni Mitchell, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Ahmad Jamal and more.

Always she had dreamed of coming to America and study at Berklee to help her start a professional career in music. Maaike went to Boston to do the audition and got in with a scholarship. The experience of being surrounded by different cultures and styles of music, makes it possible for Maaike to continue her journey and love for music.
