There is an anniversary! "Maasym", Label Founder of SOPTIK, previously known under the alias Willy Parker presents you the 10th release of the label. "Mokant" comes with two driving, boomy and floor focused original techno tracks. The two tracks are rounded off with a hypnotic break, which appears exclusively on Bandcamp. The two excellent producers "Peryl" and "FLAWS" complete the release with two remixes. "Peryl" focuses on a detailed techno break and "FLAWS" presents his sound with a minimal, atmospheric vibe.

Introducing "MAASYM002" by Maasym, the second installment of his own series, "MAASYM," featuring six captivating techno and ambient tracks. This release showcases Maasym's artistry and his ability to create immersive sonic journeys that transcend traditional boundaries.

Opening the album, "Non-Organic Growth Part 1" sets the tone with its minimalist approach, placing emphasis on a distinct bassline and subtle FX sounds that add an intriguing touch to the track. Part 2 takes a more atmospheric turn, incorporating organic tones that invite listeners to delve deeper into an expressive world.

Continuing the exploration, the third track, "Roderika," serves as a perfect entry point for any DJ set, particularly during the early hours. It captivates with its modulated drone units and mesmerizing filter modulations, gradually building an immersive atmosphere.

"Opalescent," the fourth track, resides within the hypnotic realm, where its distinctive bassline takes center stage. The break introduces tension through atmospheric sequences, elevating the overall intensity of the piece.

In "Above As Below," the fifth track, Maasym shifts gears to a groove-oriented segment of the album. Rolling drum parts intertwine seamlessly with a bell sequence, creating an infectious rhythm.

Closing the album is "Convenience Features," a driving and atmospheric composition that leaves a lasting impression. Its pulsating energy, combined with immersive textures, provides a fitting conclusion to this compelling release.

Hamburg-based label Vorm has been impressing with its underground techno track that have seen Ricardo Garduno, Joton, and Peryl, join the ranks since launching last year.

Mutlu Karaköse delivers the fourth EP titled 'Intellectus' that also welcomes Anml Mthr of Florian Meindl's FLASH, and label boss Maasym for two superb remixes.

Maasym has also released his quality sound on Kr!z's Token, FLASH, Ricardo Garduno's Illegal Alien, and SOPTIK, proving he is an artist to keep a close eye on.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his remix of the title track "Intellectus" that has a raw and powerful sound. Gritty with a jackin' funk, the modular highlights add a sci-fi ethos, but rest assured, its mission is to work up the dance floor into a frenzy with its understated, bubbling bassline.

Maasym, originally from near Frankfurt/Main and now based in Hamburg, stands for hypnotic, atmospheric techno with refined sound design. He has been active in the scene since 2015, founded his own label Vorm last year and has released on renowned labels such as Token Records, Illegal Alien, Flash Recordings and Planet Rhythm. His style is characterised in particular by the organic, raw sound that he consciously incorporates into his productions.

INTERVIEW
You founded your own label ‘Vorm’ last year. Was there a specific moment or thought that gave the go-ahead for this project?

There wasn't a specific moment for the starting shot, rather a thought. Many of the tracks that were being played and released at the time often sounded very similar to me and also a bit uncreative. I got a bit bored with the scene at the end of 2023, beginning of 2024 and came up with the idea of launching a new label and releasing tracks in the subgenre that I play or listen to a lot myself. I also wanted to give something to the scene and push artists who work hard, are creative and have their own style. But also, of course, to be able to decide for myself what to do with the music I produce. I then decided to kick things off with a record release.

Is there a track of yours that has a special emotional meaning for you?

My track ‘Intermediate Direction’ has a special meaning for me. I started making music in my teenage bedroom when there were no masterclasses or private courses. I sat in front of Ableton and my synthesiser for hours, trying to make my tracks sound like the music I was listening to. One label that I really loved back then (2016) was ‘Token’. Accordingly, the track means a lot to me and I am very happy that I got the chance to release on ‘Token’. Personally, it's still one of my favourite tracks.

Is there any other art form, apart from music, that inspires or excites you?

I listen to a lot of techno & hip-hop/rap, but I'm also a big rock and heavy metal fan. In general, this organic sound from the 70s, 80s or even 90s totally inspires me. There's a lot of life in it and it can often be very ‘rough’ and ‘dirty’. I always try to get this ‘life’ into my tracks when I record my patches or sequences. It doesn't always have to be perfectly produced. Sometimes it's more about the vibe that you feel at that moment when you're making music. Even if the sound is a bit too filtered or creaky.

Maasym blossoms into new sonic territory with Efflorescence (2014) – a deeply textured six-track EP navigating between raw bass pressure, cinematic ambience, and leftfield rhythmic explorations on cassette.

The journey begins with the title track Efflorescence (2014) – a widescreen ambient piece where emotional pads and luminous melodies unfold like a slow-motion bloom, evoking vast cinematic spaces with a fragile intensity.

The mood fractures with Become Free Swimming – a hyper-saturated vortex of FX-driven abstraction and throbbing low-end turbulence, equal parts chaos and propulsion.

Somatic Cells follows, offering a moment of suspended calm – spacious, atmospheric, and warm with an organic flow. Then Respect The Balance and The Picasso Bug shift the focus to the floor, delivering two rumbling tools forged for weighty sound systems and shadowy dancefloors.

Closing things out is Vibrant Symmetrical Pattern – a broken beat experiment at 80 BPM, fusing haunting melodies with heavy basslines and twisted synth shapes. It’s a left-turn finale, strange and bold.

Efflorescence (2014) is a shapeshifting document of club abstraction and emotional resonance — comes out 09th May 2025.

ANIMA’s Third Adventure - ‘ORBIT’ is inspired by outer space, star dust and circular rhythms. The trajectory of moons around planets, planets around suns. Creating an eternal cycle. An ethereal dance. Like molecules and atoms spinning endlessly the same way. Beautiful bleeps, polyrhythms, and polymeters were encouraged and delicately disguised within the orbital nature of each track in this galactic release.
