Music for Aliens (2024)

in 2024, i designed, composed, and performed sound for david charles katz's production of august strindberg's a dream play. i chose to embrace the wildly absurd, terrifying, and comical landscape of the play through sound design, performing the soundscape live through responsive triggers to the actors and several processing chains i modulated during performances. i composed most of the material by distorting, stretching, and interpolating recordings i made of the cast's vocals, synthesizers (memorymoog, minimoog, and korg ms-20), and small foley elements. in deep collaboration with the director, we created multiple choreographed interludes with minimal lighting and movement so that the audience was drenched in sound and felt time slow.

this work was designed for a quadrophonic Meyer sound system with two additional Meyer subwoofers in wilson hall at dartmouth college. it is recommended to listen at high volume.
