It was a desk that used to sit in the corner he didn’t need anymore.
“First one to claim it can have it,” he told us. “Just take it out the door.”
When mom first died, he decided to  stay there. The memories were still fresh.
Given time it changed his perspective. “It’s too much,” he confessed.

And so he gave in and started downsizing. What to  keep, what to give?
You can exist for a while on the memories, but that’s no way to live.
The desk went 1st, it was an easy decision. It was just in the way.
My niece claimed it, she had just the spot for it. It truly made her day.

Cleaning it out she discovered a treasure that would have been easy to miss.
A tissue mom had used to dab the lipstick from her lips.

It was a kiss from heaven, it was a kiss long overdue.
It was a kiss from heaven, reminding what he already knew.
That the love they had never went away. 
It kept growing stronger the more he gave away.
Another kiss from heaven every day.

A used tissue can be a great   treasure. We had it  mounted and framed.
When people ask, we take great pleasure in trying hard to explain.
What you might think to be useless and worthless someone else might see differently.
It might just end up a kiss from heaven, so treat it reverently.

Just because you cannot see a great treasure don’t assume it has no value or worth.
One day someone might just give your trash a second birth.
