[BM024] MANUEL COSTELA - Noir (Original Mix)

Mick Wills is no stranger to Frigio Records, the German Dj and producer has turned his hand to edits and remixes on previous releases and now arrives with his own 12” of edits for the volumen 4th of the label’s Ecdisis series. The source material for the two pieces on offer comes from Brazil’s Simbolo, a band formed in 1988 and still active with a career spanning more than thirty years, was a central player in South America’s EBM and Synth scene.
Wills has selected two tracks from the Brazilian’s back catalogue, the first being “Mind.” Industrial influences come immediately to the fore, complex drum patterns give way to a juddering groove in which guttural vocals depict a scene of hurt and pain. “Synchrono”
occupies the flip. Taken from the 1995 album, In the Danger Zone, the original two minute piece is extended into a seven plus minute epic. Following on from “Mind”, “Synchrono” melts stuttering bass-lines and textured percussion with indecipherable lyrics counter-balancing heady strings. Two cuts of emotive and impacting electronics.

Everyone’s favourite Israeli digger is back for another round of gloriously rare edit heat on Razor-N-Tape. Tel Aviv’s Elado returns to the Brooklyn imprint for PT. 2 of his edit series with four deadly disco dancefloor weapons. 

Elado has been a driving force in his home city scene, avidly collecting records for three decades and Djing for the best part of two. In 2020 he stormed the edit world where his kaleidoscopic musical palette was heard for the first time on Razor-N-Tape and Eddie C’s Red Motorbike.  He is a master manipulator in turntablism and a much-touted tastemaker, fully immersing himself in Tel Aviv’s vibrant nightlife. Armed with a custom-built rotary mixer from Condesa, he utilizes his musical instincts with rich DJ sets that see him seamlessly weave through breakbeat, electro, disco, house & lost grooves from across the globe. Other releases can be found on G.A.M.M, Barefoot Beats, Bonfido Disques, and the mighty Secret Squirrel.

‘Baila’ gets the party started with infectious flamenco chants and claps over a churning acidic groove, and ‘Disco Hummus’ rounds out the side with a bit of joyful disco cheek. On the flip, ‘Sun’ turns an unlikely cover of a classic into an Afro Disco banger, and ‘Simba’ rumbles and rolls with restraint toward a hypnotic peak of brass and vocals. Elado has done it again…Mazel Tov!

MacGyver 2.0 is the artist name of Sjors Broersen, Amsterdam based producer, DJ & VJ. Being part of the Mute team, and in the past Hausse & RTFKT Collective, he has a wide range of experience with throwing parties in the DIY scene. Most likely you find him at a dark basements with good sound systems, abandoned or squatted places, playing his hybrid dj-set, combining his  favourite tracks with extra layers of acid sounds and other analog-synth sounds. His styles are ranging from Disco and Melodic Electronics towards a bit more darker Acid sounds later at night. Always with a touch of the 303 and the aim to make people dance.

As a producer he works on his own tracks and a project called The 80's Acid Edits, editing 80 tracks with a extra layers of acid sounds and harder kicks making them ready for the dance floor. 

And as VJ he tries to makes a new project mapping each time around with the stuff that's around, always trying out new shapes and angles to create new visual effects.
