"I first got introduced to Cliff Lothar through a mutual friend of ours at the time, Lori Napoleon (Antennes). I was surprised by what I heard. He had this feel in his music that seemed to set him apart from just about everybody I had heard at the time. 

From the start of my time over at Submerge with Mike Banks, Mike had always given me demos to check out, because he just didn't have the time and a lot of the stuff that came in sounded very much the same. A lot of it was very well made but to be honest it was rare to find something that stood out.

A few years later, me and Mad Mike were talking about some of the old UR records and one off labels, and I mentioned World Power Alliance. Mike had always wanted to fire the label back up, but there was just never enough time to scout artists outside of Detroit to fill the roster. I said I might have some stuff sitting aside from friends of mine over there that you may like. None of it really seemed to grab him till I popped in Cliffs stuff.

The thing that always made me crazy is that I would have loved to snatch up some of the material and put it out, but we just couldn't find enough variety of artists around it to fill in more records.

This record contains some of those tracks. This guy knows what he's doing and I'm sure you'll hear plenty more from him in the future. This was one of my favorite records years before it's been released, and I hope you all enjoy it too."

Soul Edifice - Dancing Shadows

Less than one year after his 2019 release entitled ‘Trans Asia Express’, DVS NME returns with a collection of original tracks that were produced between 2018-2020. This 30-track album is a not-so-subtle nod to the Electro inspirations that have helped to influence the DVS NME sound that has developed over the course of the last 20 years. The most obvious influence is that of Detroit pioneers Drexciya and subsequent projects by Gerald Donald. The album pays homage to Dopplereffekt’s 1999 album ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’ in both its title and cover art. The release ranges from brooding, downtempo machine funk all the way to dancefloor-oriented melodic Electro. The album relies heavily on the sounds of classic Electro machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, and TR-909. DVS NME is the man behind the weekly radio show/daily blog called 'Dark Science Electro' and has been a dedicated contributor for the Electro community for the last 10 years. He shares his love of Electro music by posting Electro-affiliated news, art, mixes, albums, memes, concerts, tracks, gear and more. DVS NME - Pathosis

For the first record of the new decade Outer Zone welcomes Modus’ triumphant return for this second part of his “Triple M” sequence.

Standing in direct contrast to the stasis much of modern life has been held in, this EP offers up an opportunity to vicariously enjoy a world, where the futuristic vistas that techno promised at its genesis seem present. Machinic cycles, looping escapism and understated funk are the axes in which this space is rendered, a space that for a moment allows us some respite from stillness.
