Musically speaking, dub techno has a haunting, haunted, tripped out site of memorial exploration where everything sounds half-remembered, half-there and half-real. The genre is akin to ambient music, in that music of both genres acts as background music on purpose. The best tracks in the dub techno genre do what little it does amazingly, in that every element in the mix is given breathing space and, accordingly, takes on a sense of the organic.

The break on the Underworld mix epitomizes 90s electronic music: 909 kicking, synths stuttering, keys arpeggiating, guitars playing, and vocals blending seamlessly into the sound. Sure it's only a few seconds, but that sort of summarizes that short period where electronic dance music was a really fresh genre that hadn't really developed set boundaries and where everyone was open to its possibilities. Nearly 30 years later, you can still hear the optimism in the music...

Those tracks are full of space-alien references, obscure movies from the 90's, meditation lectures from gurus of that time and dreamy pads with acid leads. Most of these tracks found their way onto the shelves of many discerning listeners in the 90's thanks to a frothy mix of dubwise ambient house and melodic electronica aimed for post-club melting sessions. A 57 minutes extended edit version of The Orb's Blue room (1992) with several weird samples underlying the Orb's music. In fact, I have used more than 50 voice samples and extended the track from 34 minutes to 57 minutes with the awesome basslines of The Orb and studio wizardry of Kris Weston. I will remove it upon request. NO LSD was used during this process.
