We’re excited to share the Far Blue perception of Zürich-based Serenne with you today. After catching her live this summer, we were pulled in by the way she blends lush, dreamy sounds with darker moods. While keeping things subtle and immersive, she brings that same energy and depth to this one-hour mix.

“I recently had a conversation with Ben Kaczor, who mentioned an artist I hadn’t heard of before: Hilma af Klint, a Swedish visionary whose work immediately spoke to something inside me. Touched by her paintings, I printed two of her blue-hued pieces — The Ten Largest, No. 1 (1907) and Childhood and Primordial Chaos (1906–1907) — hung them above my setup, and started recording this one-take mix, letting myself drift into the world they opened.

But as I listened back, I found myself entering something else entirely — something that goes beyond those paintings — something deeper, something that transforms. A space beyond sight. That’s where the journey begins for me. And I hope that, for whoever listens, it becomes something personal too. Maybe even a small doorway to something deeper, something invisible… just as Hilma found through her art.

This mix also features beautiful tracks from many dear friends — I feel grateful for each of their creations.”

They simply called it “The Laboratory.” There were no windows — only the hum of life-support systems and aquariums filled with lifeforms that defied classification. On evenings like this, Spacelunch would tune the setup, Cat would yank out unnecessary cables with his tail, and everything would freeze in anticipation of the signal. A deep, steady mix filled the space, seeping into reservoirs, consoles, and whispering sensors. Something flared, something trembled — as if the environment itself was trying to synchronize with the rhythm. Later, a new chapter would appear in the Professor’s log: “Sample 93.”

AF Reflect’s sound journey 011 with Konrad Black

For this mix, Konrad Black traces a thread of introspective melancholy through his selections. Drawing from influences that span drone, glitch, vocoding, and the ethereal, he moves fluidly across multiple electronic forms with a quiet emotional depth. The mix evokes the spirit of his early DJ years — crafting sets on Maxell XLII cassettes — where mood and texture took precedence over genre boundaries.

Konrad Black is a Canadian composer, music producer, and DJ based in Berlin. He began his career as a hip hop dj in the mid-90s, while in subsequent years he expanded his sound to include multiple forms of electronic music, from drum and bass and techno to experimental and ambient composition.

His musical production roots reach back to the late 1990s, with a wide range of releases across influential labels. Early work includes drum and bass on Formation Records, co-producing the band Circlesquare for Trevor Jackson’s Output Recordings, and remixing UNKLE for Mo’ Wax (as Headgear). His first explorations in deep techno and electro appeared on Swayzak’s 240 Volts, leading to the co-founding of Wagon Repair with Mathew Jonson in 2003. The release of his breakout track Medusa Smile in 2005 marked a turning point, prompting his move from Vancouver to Berlin and the beginning of extensive international touring, with regular appearances at renowned venues such as DEMF, WMC, Berghain, Output NYC, Stereo, Lux Frágil, and Womb. 

In recent years, while maintaining a regular release schedule as a producer (Pleasure District, Exit Records, Meander) Konrad’s practice has expanded to include composition for electro-acoustic instruments, film, installation, video games, and sound design. Long-term collaborations with visual artist Jeremy Shaw have produced several major works, including Phase Shifting Index and The Quantification Trilogy (Quickeners, Liminals, I Can See Forever), exhibited at institutions such as Centre Pompidou, the Venice Biennale, and Hamburger Bahnhof. Other projects include serving as game audio director for Balenciaga’s Afterworld video game, as well as contributing sound to Natalia Escobar’s installation Las Traviesas, exhibited at Kasseler Kunstverein, and Efrén Mur’s volumetric audiovisual installation It From Bit at Madrid’s Matadero.
