It rained in Scotland? 15 days ago - it's been so heatwave in Cork that I find it hard to remember what rain is like.  We face a drought.  It would be silly to cut the grass - though I meant to cut it 10 days ago.  By now you must be hot.  I see you're off on a cycle now.

The Helen Driessen Trio. Also known as my Mum and Uncles :) Recording is from a 45 c1964 maybe. Mum was about 20 when this was recorded. The sleeve notes say: 
On rare occasions a singing group appears on the entertainment scene with the happy knack of producing fine music apparently without effort. Such is the case with The Helen Driessen Trio. 
From their first appearance as an impromptu singing trio at parties three years ago, the talented threesome has met with universal popularity. Lead singer Helen's unusual and appealing style is backed by the voices of brothers Herbert and Anton. Herbert also plays bass whilst Anton plays the 12-string guitar. The many people who have become keen fans of The Helen Driessen Trio through their appearances will be delighted with the four songs selected for the group's first recording. 
All members of The Helen Driessen Trio are part of a large and happy family who migrated to Australia from Holland about eight years ago. They are currently featured at Capers Restaurant in Melbourne and it was from there that their musical ability and popularity came to the notice of W&G and bought about the signing of a long term recording contract.

This piece was originally composed by @Andre-Louis and was then posted for friends to hear. Upon listening, I experienced a mini explosion of ideas and excitedly got his permission to add vocals and improv to it. This is the result. Took me a little longer than I thought, but boy, was it fun. There is a piano riff in there that especially gathered many takes before I got it the way I was hearing it in my head.

I used GarageBand as my DAW connected to the Mackie Onyx 820I. The guitar solo was completed using a patch in GarageBand and the electric piano at the very beginning along with the grand piano further in are from the Yamaha P250 keyboard. Vocals were recorded with a Rode NT1A microphone.
