All eyes are on Islandman, an interplanetary musical trio from Istanbul who release their long anticipated, third album Godless Ceremony on September 10 via Danish imprint and long-time home of the band, Music for Dreams.

Islandman makes an incendiary, uplifting and psychedelic slew of music drawn from a world of make-believe, rooted in Anatolia. These 10 tracks (+ 3 additional exclusives on the vinyl) – all of which flirt with balearic, house, down-tempo and electronica with a global gaze - are awash with acid drenched electronic motifs and stuttering electronic drum machine syncopations. The group effortlessly sail the globe, dropping into the tropics of Ecuador (Amarnos Ahora),to Mali visiting North African desert blues masters Tamikrest (Tarhamanine Assinegh) and North India (Drums Of Colca) whilst never forgetting the music and poetry from the band's spiritual home, Anatolia (Kara Toprak). 
In Godless Ceremony we are withdrawn from time and place, delivered to a fantasy zone, dreamt up in the sea, gazing at the stars. It's a musical storyboard, that whilst conceived in Istanbul by producer, singer and multi instrumentalist Tolga Böyük, journeys to far off places, real and imagined.
Hindustani tablas, Tibetan flutes, flamenco guitars, Anatolian Saz and Balinese (Bhasa) vocals all mesh within a concept (and coping mechanism) that contemplates daily routine as beautiful and meditative and as Tolga has appreciated over a testing two years in which he lost his father,"You can take part in a religious ceremony, search for supernatural powers, but sometimes you need to find happiness in small, everyday things".
The record's tracklisting and flow, like it's production ambition and aesthetic, peaks and troughs and arguably perculates at the Underworld-esque title track Godless Ceremony, where Tolga takes front of stage delivering the lead vocal and playing the Saz, an Anatolian stringed guitar-like instrument. 

The core members of Islandman are multi-instrumentalist & producer, Tolga Böyük and  Eralp Güven (percussion) and Erdem Başer (guitars). Islandman have become known for their live performances, as anyone who has witnessed their live streams from Istanbul for the London Jazz Festival and Boiler Room can attest to. 

Islandman simply avoids boundaries and Godless Ceremony is ultimately their most open-minded work to date. The subtleties and deft electronic touches bewilder and their clear appreciation of music on a global level is an education for us all.

Happy Birthday Mira!! 😻

Here comes my set from Mira's 48 Katzen Tanzen auf'm Tisch. A huge thank you to Mira for being who she is, for inspiring my always and of course for inviting me to play mighty Säälchen on Sunday night. I could have not imagined a better moment to play the set I have poured all my soul, heart and creativity into. I feel so honoured to play among some of the greatest artists out there! 

Another huge thank you and my deepest respect goes out to all the incredible producers who are dedicating their time and energy into making these gems that I have selected for this set. 

A big thank you goes also to everyone being there and experiencing the magic that happened during these 3 hours full and bathing me after in all your love and joy ☺️ Since the recording unfortunately did not work out, I dared a re-record and beamed myself back into Säälchen and went through my memories one more time.

Hui, was für ein schöner Start ins Jahr war das denn? 

Für dieses Closingset habe ich mir mächtig den Kopf zerbrochen, drei Playlists parallel erstellt und mich gefragt, in welche Richtung ich musikalisch gehen will. Und am Ende wurde es eine Reise mit meinen aktuellen Favourites, von dunklen Bangern bis zu einem dreamy Ende.  

Danke @lucamusto für dein Vertrauen und die Einladung, danke an alle Tanzmäuse, die sich mit mir auf die Reise eingelassen haben und für eure Herzen und die lieben Worte danach. Das hat mir sehr viel bedeutet! <3

It's Time to Get Lost in the Journey. Islandman's second album "KAYBOLA" takes its place on digital platforms on 31st January.

There are lands to discover, people to meet, and stories to be
written between the voices. It is worth getting lost for the moments that
have not been experienced yet. Islandman, the project of Tolga Böyük
with Eralp Güven and Erdem Başer, who join him in the caravan for
dreams, for new discoveries. The journey continues between cultures
and communities with his new album “KAYBOLA".

"KAYBOLA”, was released in August with the label of Music For Dreams,
based in Copenhagen, with its double LP & CD format, has now taken its
place in all digital platforms with 10 new songs. Ethno-cultural voices
extending from the Balkans to Japan, from Tuva to Anatolia, with minimal
and melodic electronic infrastructures, emerged as dance music of a tribe
that nobody knows.

Islandman are heading out on the road again touring the album in Europe,
which will start in London at the famous Jazz Cafe on March 13 and
continues at Club GRETCHEN (Berlin) on March 16, Das Werk (Vienna) on
March 18, and Kaserne Basel on March 20.
