Bad Zu, now an international multimedia band, is releasing their third album on Hyperboloid, their first in four years. Three years in the making, "Bad Luck" reflects the uncertain and vulnerable times we live in right now. "Bad Luck" represents the rollercoaster of emotions that was experienced by all of us in the last three years, not only the group led by Philipp Alexandrov. There's a place for hope in a track called "Safe Place" and a place for loss in "Death Around the Corner." The album was finishing on the run — in the buses, gas stations, and motels — and it shows in its constantly changing, always moving sound representing vitality and chaos.

Attention to detail in the sound of "Bad Luck" is astounding; as Alexandrov says about the approach to making the album, "It helped us rethink the importance of music to ourselves." For years, Bad Zu was known for its energetic and astonishing performances, and you can feel their live vibe completely in "Siren Vogue" thanks to the recordings of the crowd. There's also the tribute to the night club Mutabor on the eponymous track: the dark rhythms with a take on tribal music fit the name perfectly. As always with Bad Zu, many worldwide rhythms and melodies don't dwell on any particular ethnic sound: that sophisticated approach matches the universal themes of "Bad Luck." Many filtered and sliced vocal parts create a sense of dialogue with a listener and get the feeling of a deep dive into the Bad Zu world, more considered than ever.

In answer to the questions I keep getting asked.
 ccai pt2 , part 1 is Drukqs, as that was the first thing I released that utilised computer controlled instruments, namely a modified Yamaha disklavier, 2nd gen and a couple of midi controlled solenoid based drum mechanisms I made just after I got the Disklavier.

I kept seeing them [disklaviers] in hotels, usually used to pipe muzak around the place and thought why doesn't anyone actually use one of these to compose music on and make beats etc! 
A couple of times when i saw them in hotel lobbies, i sneaked up to the disklavier and set it to play ultra low pitch and very slow, funny watching peoples reactions, it was down every corridor etc
NOBODY i spoke to back in around 1999 inc. people at yamaha knew how to connect one of these to a computer and I had to take my computer into Yamaha to try it out to see how fast these things could go, no info on the net then either.
The first year I burned out countless solenoids in the thing and learnt how to repair them myself, the more recent gen ones like I used at the barbican have temperature cut outs on them thankfully, i’ve still fried a few though!

Pushing into the second track, “Beautiful” is as the title suggests. The electro sounds they’ve found to use as a main melody-line here are freakin’ fantastic! Lovely tone and the pulse…there’s real LIFE and movement in this track; the kind you truly can’t help but groove to. While this particular cut might represent something a little more a-typical in the electro-genre.‘Beautiful’ follows, a grandiose electronic mix that harnesses a distinctive aura. ‘Beautiful’ is indeed beautiful, though it feels held back, as if Moment is waiting to break free and erupt. ‘Beautiful’ is timid in that regard.

"Yeah I See"
Very cool, and fresh material less than 16 minutes magic works , composition of drum loops, unconventional samples or finesse with cut vocal footsteps. 

Moment’s music is a temptress of sorts, darting in and out of beautiful noise with poise and elegance, yet never actually achieving its potential. I foresee the follow-up to this EP becoming much stronger as Moment’s musical identity becomes more realized.
