Mad Recordings delivers their latest, and dare we say greatest, EP through the hands of label boss Ortella, and the mysterious french house maestro(s), Beaux Arts.  

The EP kicks off with, “Virtual Paradise;” Enjoy a breakbeat dancing to the pulsation of a monstrous sin wave, sprinkled with finely chopped rock & hip hop samples, and a sweet acid lead, that all come together to form a timeless piece of superbly addictive, rolling, electro funk.  

Track two switches the funk outfit, for a deep space techno suit.  Driven by a luxurious synth stab, “Paris la Defonce,” takes the listener on a patient, yet stimulating sensory experience.  Long, gradual, filter sweeps that reveal sparkling textures, over purist drum patterns, build up for a straightforward reminder where the term, “Big Room,” came from.

Returning to “Beaux Arts,” the third track, “Drum 28,” steers things into a deeper, more melodic direction.  Tastefully glitched out, bit crushed, broken beats, that eventually evolve into a full four on the floor rhythm, work perfectly with the dreamy chords, and a sharp lead, that at times appears to double as a bassline; A welcome contrast to the rest of the release.

Which then brings us to “Dead End,” the EP’s closer, and a dose of hard hitting industrial techno, with a touch of exotic finesse.  Sonically rich, musical static, saturated percussion, and a barrage of musically timed crashes, impacts, and rough textures, make up the perfect soundtrack to a long overdue, highly satisfying, building demolition.  

Altogether, a collection of exceedingly refined, no nonsense minimal leaning dancefloor weapons, for the experienced, or novice DJ, and listener, alike."
