Taking influences from West Coast Glitch styles, Hip Hop, Future Bass and deep Dubstep, Cycles is all about human ritual.  It’s about staying grounded, renewal, and the importance of coming together to create.  Merging crunked out hip hop with vocals from Vancouver’s diversely talented beat boxer, MC, producer and DJ, Shamik in ‘Switch the Tip’ and focusing on melodically sequenced melodies and wide evolving pads laid over a fat 808 in collaboration with Calgary’s classical pianist, Alliekat on ‘Rooftop Nocturne’, Jnana sets course with a diverse sound that remains distinctly his own.  The third track of the EP ‘Country Crunk‘ blends tight guitar riffs with high-energy basslines and spacey resampled harmonicas. Never losing sight of quality, Cycles stays true to Jnana’s form with technical bass edits, clean, spacious mixes and crisp hard hitting percussion.

Lster makes his debut on Gravitas Recordings June 16th with a groovy bass EP “In Real Time” full of top tier sound design, glitchy beats and a fresh idea of bass music.  This fast paced journey follows different styles and concepts that Lster has been working on, while flowing flawlessly through these different sounds.  The EP is composed of very pretty and emotional moments as well as intense dance moments with drum oriented groovers.  Listeners can expect a wide variety of vibes when listening as each song tells its own story.

“This EP is titled In Real Time. I came to this name because I felt like it represented this group of tunes perfectly. As an artist, when you make advancements in music production you tend to fall in love with what you're currently working on, but your older works seem juvenile in a sense. These 4 songs represent my recent growth as a musician/ artist and all of the lessons I've acquired in the last couple months. I’m continuously growing in real time and continuing to release the pieces that I’m most proud of.” - Lster

Cruising Through starts off the EP with trippy sound effects and synths that make the listener feel like they are cruising through space.  It quickly drops into a lively downtempo drop with huge bass growls accompanied by the original spacey synth, never taking away from the epic soundscape created by the intro.  The second drop follows the same pattern while adding in more glitchy sound effects and perfect vocal chops, feeling as if it is building to something much bigger.  Mal Funktion does just that and leans more into the glitchy bass sound that we have grown so fond of.  Heavy fast-paced wubs and perfect drum grooves can’t keep the listener from swaying along to this one, and is a standout track and the only single off the EP.  The Experiment pulls back from this tempo and opens with live flute and tribal voices, truly feeling like a different style and experiment that LSTER was trying out.  It drops into heavy fast kicks and perfect silent moments to accentuate each downbeat hit, paired with catchy string instruments all around that reel in the listener into a trance.  Feel Real closes the EP by taking an emotional journey of opening piano and beautiful female vocals off in the distance.  It drops into heavy wubs and full female vocals while still a slower track and meditative rhythm, truly a full emotional journey without ever going too hard to take the listener out of the rhythm.  A perfect way to close a surreal EP and showcase his sound.

Mostly known as the pioneer of the global bass genre, David Starfire comes to Gravitas Recordings with his newest musical creation, Future Self. Influenced by the culmination of his musical training and experiences with orchestras, marching band, sound design, EDM, and world music, David nods toward his years of music production to create a familiar, yet divergent release through three collaborative tracks and three innovative remixes. Throughout Future Self, David's artistry stems from areas such as Bulgaria, the Middle East, Australia, India, and Africa to transport listeners into a cinematic and ethereal universe that merges with dubstep, trap, and global bass sounds.

Opening up the EP with a 2,000 year old “Vishnu” mantra from the temples of India, David Starfire and featured Mumbai vocalist Shri pay respects to the principal deity of Hinduism as powerful 808s are launched. David collaborated with Bulgarian vocalist Sonja Alexandra Drakulich, from the internationally acclaimed world music ensemble StellaMara, in “Izgrejala” to merge heavy trap music with cinematic theme music. Instrumentation from master oud player Jef Stott and Australian world-renown didgeridoo player Ganga Giri are presented in “Osho,” which gradually accelerates from a steady rhythm to expeditious global dubstep intended for the dancefloor. For the first remix off of the EP, Boston’s Zebbler Encanti Experience teleports David’s ethnic “Primal (feat. SOOHAN)” into space. Fellow ethno-group DISSØLV fulfills its mission to stimulate minds and ears with its remix of David and Justin Terranova’s “This Sound.” Wrapping up the EP, Baltimore/Los Angeles global bass producer SOOHAN presents a fast-paced and lively remix of David’s song, “Jungle (feat. Patrick D).”

To truly capture the cinematic universe that Future Self resides in through its cover art, David Starfire enlisted the help of digital artist Beeple, who has notably worked with artists such as Imagine Dragons, Louis Vuttton, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Zedd, Taio Cruz, Amon Tobin, Wolfgang Gartner, and more.
