This song means the world to me. It opened me up to a whole new world of music, and I wanted to try and basically replicate it in a home studio setting. Attempting to record a song as the original band recorded it gives you a whole new understanding of the piece and all its nuances. With the advancements in technology over the past forty-odd years, anyone with the skill can record professional music in a bedroom.

Please forgive my ridiculous butchering of the language. My Icelandic is terrible, but it's an absolutely beautiful language.

Man, I love this song. So, I decided to do an acapella version by ear. It was tons of fun and I kind of rushed through it, but I think it turned out alright.

You know, I've always liked The Magnetic Fields and this song, but I always felt it deserved a less cutesy rendition. It's still as tongue-in-cheek, but approximately 47% more rock.

That new My Bloody Valentine record really inspired me to do something with my time other than wait for their website to stop crashing. So, I covered "Only Shallow," which is a total jam, and definitely one of my all-time favorite songs.

So, for the first time in a very long time, I busted out my old Fostex 4-track, took the dirtiest cassette tape I could find, and recorded this. In mono. Because I could.

I cleaned it up a little digitally, but there's still a ton of tape hiss and a fair amount of analog distortion. It sounds just like I wanted, but I'll have to brush up on my 4-track skills.
