Johanna Knutsson’s ‘Somnis Vius’ (meaning ‘Vivid Dreams’ in Catalan) project materialised after a search for relaxing and meditative music proved fruitless, inspired to make her own selection she began to collect field recordings as she travelled. 

Comprised of natural soundscapes and forgotten gems in her record collection that she otherwise could not make use of in her usual Techno sets, the tape serves as a post-party comedown soundtrack as much as it does an aid to sleep or meditation.

“I wanted to come up with a theme relating to my recent ’70’s Baby’ release on Maddjazz Recordings. Initially I thought to do a mix of some of my favourite tunes from the 1970s, but in the end decided that was such a wide scope to pick from and wanted to narrow it down a bit, so I settled on a mix of tunes released in 1978, the year of my birth. It was actually really fun to dig through my records, listening as I went along, whilst imagining myself as a baby and trying to visualize what was going on in the world at that time. My choices were defined by what I had in my collection, and amazingly I found strange 1978 sized gaps in the discographies of some of my favourite artists! The result is a mixture of some great Jazz/Funk/Fusion tracks, records I bought whilst digging for samples and a healthy dose of Jamaican and Brazilian heat.” -Henry Keen

A whoosh, a whir, a house and a set of rooms, "where are we?". Let's have a look... Live at Nowadays, Alternative Medicine is a label run by Mike Bloom and Milo McBride. As an ensemble it is a rotating cast of characters. This session they were joined by Hypnotic Spa's Maxime Robillard. They played a live, improvised set using a sampler, Moog bass, Fender Rhodes keyboard among other instruments. Filmed in Kolkata, India, this documentary depicts a courageous group of women, survivors of gender-based violence and marginalization, fighting gender inequality using dance and movement therapy to empower themselves and their community.
