After his recent release dipping into the breaks-tinged, dub infused side of the techno spectrum, Linearis is back on made of concrete with his 4th ofering to date. 'Sound Exhibition' crosses over into house and deep/dub tech, with its tracks that go from 111 all the way to 140 BPM.

'DudPong' plunges into deep dub territory, as the name suggests, with metallic pads and a constant glitchy back and forth. 'End Search' bounces along a playful melody with radiating synths and a serene, subdued groove. The kick drum-less 'Wavy' makes for a great mood setter in its original form, while label alum Angioma gives it the remix treatment, turning it into a full-on 140 BPM slice of dark techno complete with a wavy lead and cavernous pads.

Berlin / Dresden based Made of Concrete continue a long string of galvanised club material with a new offering from the auspicious Angioma. Also now based in Berlin - the Lyon-born artist has a penchant for non-conformist art with an anarchistic twist and this is reflected across his project ROOM which encompasses art, music and cross-discipline collaboration.

The stripes Angioma has earned across these endeavours and his approach in the studio slot him neatly into the 'made of Concrete' catalogue - as evinced in this, his 2nd offering on the label: 'Touch and What' EP.

The EP kicks off with the title track which sets a dense thud through murky, aquatic atmospheres. Synths are submerged and gloomy as the track pushes forward with moody intent. Deftly EQd hats twist and turn as further percussion bleeds into a tense mix - a perfect intensity for an effective warm up.

'And See' then follows up with a quicker tempo as a rubbery kick drives through shuffling shakers and panned hats. A hypnotic, head bending melody then creeps in as nifty filter control has the track thicken and thin throughout as he tone is set bubbling without ever boiling over.

'What Happens' then plots icy stabs atop another stout kick drum and trimmed, minimal percussion. Frazzled signals and a clever mix down create a rich sense of space as the track continues to open out before Rebar weigh in with their contribution.

Mainstays of 'made of Concrete', the duo perfectly encapsulate the label's canon: bold, sturdy Techno which demonstrates the power of simplicity. Their refined revision lays percolating congas and toms over a persistent stab, computer FX samples and a fizzy kick which rounds another 'made of Concrete' EP off in fine style.

Rebar's ever-expanding ‚made of Concrete‘ continues it's efflorescence as it presents the next instalment on the label which comes courtesy of Stuttgart based Kelvin Belton. Anyone who has seen Belton in action will be familiar with his profuse productions and the vitality of his live performances. He is an artist who draws effectively on the intrigue of human touch when making and presenting his music and is lauded for his bold, precise club music.

Here, he presents his 'Dub That Chord' EP - a heady, kinetic set of moods which meld the subaqueous sonics of Dub with the rough, frazzled textures of Techno. The title track kicks things off with a sunken, swirling chord set stabbing over a steady, rumbling low end. Interchanging hats swap in / out which keeps a vibe bubbling throughout. 'Multiple Dimension's then follows up with a sharp 909 hat set slapping above a bright and clear kick drum. More dubbed out tones bleed in and work to conjure up emotions found in those long, dawn lit dance-floor sessions where the haze of the day begins to illuminate a once darkened club space. 

'Movement' then follows up with a potent, no nonsense tool. A burly kick hammers under tribal percussion, fuzzy FX and a warped drone which keeps pressure up throughout. Barcelona's Victor Fernandez then follows up with his pacy take on the title track. The original's deep chords are given FX treatment in a track which playfully switches between broken beat structures and racing, 4/4 drums.

Hailing from Nuremberg, Michael Rosmann is a revered producer, DJ and event manager who specialises in functional, dub-infused Techno.

With his finger in many pies - Rosmann has developed a breadth of experience that is evident in his productions and DJ sets which often carry a stamp of potent simplicity. His latest EP 'Violet' is a pack of rattling and mesmerising productions which come backed up with a remix from Hotflush affiliate Anna Kost.

The title track kicks things off with deft dynamics as a metallic stab bounces off against striking stabs and powerful drums. 'Purpur' then follows up with a demonic sequence and stout percussion which are set together into a mind-bending polyrhythm before 'Nam Ba' soundtracks a chaotic but exhilarating trip. Filters set a fiery motif searing through a short drum break which is cleverly sequenced into a functional DJ tool.

Anna Kost then concludes the record with a distorted, dystopian remix of 'Violet'. Scattered snares, nifty kick work and a adroit use of FX create a rich sense of depth in a track that depicts staggered strobes burning through sweat and smoke.

Rebar's 'made of Concrete' label has now amassed a cohesive catalogue of Techno with a clear aesthetic; raw, dubby sonics are presented with a greyscale finish and a mood that suits sophisticated, big-room spaces.  

Jeremy P Caulfield, Markus Suckut and Alexander Kowalski have featured so far and next up is a pair of releases from propitious producer and Mötet resident Joline Scheffler backed up with a remix from long term friend of the label FS Bart. 

Across a panoply of podcasts, Scheffler has showcased her deep and varied influences. Her mixes are cogent collections which draw from 90s Electronica, Dub, Deep House, Electro - and almost all other conceivable corners of Electronic music - which she manages to braid together with a consistent thread of understated class. 

In the first of her 2 releases for 'made of Concrete' - Scheffler projects these influences across 2 accomplished tracks, the first of which is an exercise in rich, spectral Dub Techno. A burnt out kick ticks under a rich bed of swirling smoke as nifty hats and shakers send reverberated high frequencies darting across the surface.  

'Space Sugar' then follows up with a more urgent groove. Delays, reverbs and drums are subtly manipulated in a live jam as the track rolls out to captivating effect. FS Bart then closes things up with a remix that sits in the sweet spot between murky and mobile as kinetic hats and a quick tempo propel luscious pads and flexing synth tones.

Swedish talent Joline Scheffler makes her 2nd appearance in quick succession on 'made of Concrete'. Here, she follows up her 'We The Artists' EP with 'Afterglow'; a 3 track record demonstrating the fruits of of her time spent collecting esoteric records from obscure pockets of Electronic music. 

'Afterglow' kicks things off with an incredibly expressive production. Highly astute sound design and delicately managed dynamics work together to evoke a visceral response from the listener. Golden Rhodes chords are dropped into a well of reverberated signals while a rounded kick drums maintain buoyancy. 

'Tjusning' follows up with a more direct blow. Jagged stabs, airy hats and rich, filtered stabs render a smokey, flickering vision perfectly suited to a packed and dimly lit floor. 'Amorphous' finishes up the record with a highly effective tool, reduced to a few raw elements. Progress is derived from parameters as gentle tweaks to delays and filters keep tones morphing and melting throughout.

Alek S offers up another dose of pensive techno vibes in his "Paradise Lost” EP. Side A opens up with “Bold”, a slice of laid back while still pounding techno, boasting zippy synths with an unmistakable analog flavour. It’s closely followed by Andres Zacco’s rework of “Honey Wheat”, an apt reconstruction of the original that’s aimed squarely at the dancefloor. The Argentinian producer and recent Ilian Tape alumni dives in with a powerful groove, cutting its way through a suspended atmosphere full of spaced out sounds.

Over on the B-side we’re greeted with “Paradise Lost”, a slow-paced
melody that gradually shifts into a dreamy groove filled with spaced out drums and abstract delays. Last but not least, the original version of “Honey Wheat” is a somewhat atmospheric, yet functional floor warmerm that fits a resigned groove.

"Definition" showcases Dextor’s propensity towards winding, glitch- infused techno, in a construction that brings together functional, Russian bits of vocal with deep, spacious rhythms.

A known figure of contemporary techno, DJ and producer S-File channels a stripped back, hollowed down approach on his remix of "Definition", in a rework that’s filled with gyrating soundwaves on a gritty tech backdrop.

Another heavy-hitter comes in the shape of "Shift", which amps up the tension through its hard bassline and menacing snares. "Grindhouse" is yet another immersive, hazy dub techno piece which mesmerises from the get go. 

Toni Dextor’s remix of "Western Super" takes a detour into dark techno with effervescent synths and a subdued version of the vocal, leaving more room for the high impact of the enveloping, throbbing bass.
