How To Transition To Offering Services Online

This week I am sharing some important lessons.  Plus there is a live case study about how a baker can transition to offering services online.

FIND A JOB IF YOU HAVE TO
- Find a job if you need to. There is no shame in it. You may need to cover bills right now if work, contracts and clients have postponed or cancelled. There are still various types of employers hiring even in this market. I don't say this to be negative or mean but we have to be pragmatic if bills need to be paid.

CREATE A SERVICE WHICH CAN BE SOLD ONLINE
- There seems to be some resistance to this and lots of industries were unprepared and ill equipped to adjust quickly to using virtual and online tools to communicate, connect and sell. But looking forward, we can see that certain industries (event for example) will learn a lesson and incorporate more tech into their business activities. Seriously think about offering a service which does not require face to face or physical contact if at all possible. If you can, (and if it is appropriate for your field or goals)  build an audience, network or community you can nurture and sell to. 
- Be sure to create a service which is currently in NEED and RELEVANT to your audience right now.

CONSIDER SELLING TO CORPORATES
- There seems to be some misconception that no one is buying anything and there is no money being spent right now. This is not true for corporates. In fact the recent injection of funds from the government (irrespective of the politics of where the money is coming from and needs to be paid back) means they will have money to spend on business continuity and proofing. 

This means these companies want to ensure its BAU and they survive this crisis. Have a look at your industry and research what companies will be focused on over the next six months during and after the crisis. These insights will shed some light on what kind of services you can create and begin offering. There are some really obvious ones such as learning and development, digital marketing, wellness and esolutions. But check what it is for your industry specifically. 
- This is not to say that the B2C market is dead and dry. But there is no doubt it will be more challenging, unpredictable and unstable for quite some time.

USE LINKEDIN
I cannot encourage this enough really. Linkedin is a buying and selling platform by nature. When used strategically and effectively, it generates healthy leads and sales for your business (regardless of what it is you are selling). Almost more importantly, it allows you to create a strong personal brand and authority in your field. Plenty of speaking opportunities come from networking on Linkedin. This is no longer a flat 2D digital CV platform.
